Further to my issue of last year (https://community.netgear.com/t5/Using-your-ReadyNAS/ReadyNas-NV-v2-stuck-on-boot-menu-RND4000-200AJS/td-p/1077463) my ReadyNAS has decided to freeze again. This time, after a cold shutdown (wife accidentally pulled out the cable), the NAS will not restart and gets stuck at the Boot Menu. Hitting Backup just scrolls to Normal, but nothing else happens. I have tried the same tricks as last time. - Removed all drives, inserted unformatted scratch disk, rebooted. Nothing. - Factory Reset option is not available. - Holding down reset button does nothing. - I cannot see the NAS in Raidar even if I connect a network cable directly into it. I am about to throw it in the bin. So tired of how touchy it is. Is there another way to factory reset the chassis? I know the data on my storage drives is ok. I have been using it fine until the accidental power plug incident. Any assistance would be appreciated!2.9KViews0likes2CommentsReadyNAS NV+ Frozen at Quota Check
Greetings! I came home to find that my ReadyNAS NV+ (which is at least five years old) had frozen and was invisible to RAIDar. After being turned off and on again, the NV+ started the quota check. But it froze at 25.4%. I tried again, and this time it froze at 15.1%. I've read some other threads here, and it looks like this can happen when one of the drives starts to fail. However, I didn't receive any warnings or drive errors, and I don't know which drive is the problem drive (or if there even is a problem). I have two 1 TB drives in a simple RAID 1 configuration. So, here are my questions: 1. Does the frozen quota check mean that I definitely have a problem with one of the hard drives? 2. If the answer to 1 is yes, how can I tell which hard drive is the wonky one? I do have a backup by USB, so if I have to replace both drives I'll survive, but of course I'd rather not do that if I can avoid it. I've read through three or four threads here, but I'm still not sure how I should proceed. I know that one option is to go into the boot menu and skip the volume check, but the NetGear website insists that this should be done only after consultation with NetGear support. So, I'd be grateful for any advice or suggestions. Thanks! MatthewSolved6.3KViews0likes6CommentsEX6200 wifi extender is frozen. won't reset - frozen with the numbers 1-5 lit up.
In tears here with this thing. I've hardly used this machine: it's been sat safely on a shelf for a year. I managed to get it working a few weeks ago after hours of faffing, only to turn it off at the wall (I don't want things left on in my room at night, so I can't see how this should be a problem) and for it to not work anymore. I made no changes to my BT network on the BT hub5 during that time--didn't even turn it off. It never worked as it says in the book/ the 5ghz light only lit now and then, even when I was connecting to it. This happened on two machines as I returned the first, so i assumed it was my fault and never got round to conatcing support or getting my money back in warranty as I was away. Now it won't reset using the pinhole button. I've turned it on and off, unplugged it for 10 minutes, plugged it into the Mac and the wifi router following vcarious directions on here. Its frozn with the numbers 1-5 lit up. Nothing else happens. These are on even without an ethernet cable in a port. I'm at my wits end here. i spemt £100 on this thing and its never worked properly. I cant reset it using the online method as the router wont even light up or connect. help! :-(3.8KViews0likes1CommentReadyNas Duo v1 keeps locking up (inaccessible)
Hello everyone, My ReadyNas Duo has been running faultlessly for years then suddenly I noticed is was offline in my LAN and I couldn't access Frontview in a browser. The device seemed to have frozen and it wouldn't shut down normally using the power button, I had to pull the cable. When restarting it the fans whirred noisily as usual but it didn't boot up properly and become usable again, Frontview was still inaccessible. the only way I could regain access to Frontview was rebooting with the reset button at the rear depressed and even then the NAS fell over again at some point during the day, I just can't get it stable. here's the system: Model: ReadyNAS Duo [X-RAID] Serial: 24M4137000BAA Firmware: RAIDiator 4.1.14 [1.00a043] Memory: 256 MB [2.5-3-3-7] IPv4 address:: 192.168.0.11 Volume C: Online, X-RAID, 2 disks, 50% of 1846 GB used After doing some searching here I've enabled SSH and done a 'df -h' Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on /dev/hdc1 1.9G 772M 1.1G 39% / tmpfs 16k 0 16k 0% /USB /dev/c/c 1.8T 927G 919G 51% /c It's at this point I'm a bit stumped with what to do next. I've used a bash terminal a bit before in the past but I don't really know how to go about troubleshooting this. Can anyone help? Thanks3KViews0likes7CommentsMy NAS RN104 doesn't power on
The power cable was accidentaly unplugged from the power board (NAS didn't move), but the NAS was not duing anything for a long time, and now it won'p power back on. Unplugged the power cord/DC transformer and not one single light or display comes on. Also no vibration from the disks. Is it dead?2KViews0likes1CommentReadynas 102 frozen after attempted firmware upgrade from v6.1.6 to v6.4.0
Hi all, Attempted to updated my Readynas 102 last night from firmware version 6.1.6 to version 6.4.0. The unit downloaded the update, but when it asked to reboot, it had lost connection with the Web UI and consequently would no longer respond to direct access via the Web UI, nor did the main power button respond to any input. I powered it down after 10mins after still no response, and disconnected power and ethernet for a few minutes before restarting in the boot loader. Boot loader works fine, however trying to access the options (i.e. OS reinstall) results in the same thing - unit restarts, power led blinks rapidly as it's booting, goes solid, then nothing. Power LED stays solid and the power button does not respond to input. It is basically like it is getting stuck during initial startup, does not even register that there is a disk in Bay 1. (FYI, drive is good as I have connected it to a SATA / USB adaptor and using R-Studion to attempt to recover the data on it) RAIDar cannot find it on the network either. Have a ticket open with support but no response yet. Is there a way to force a firmware reset / update using the USB port/s? Anything else I can do? Thanks AdamSolved4.1KViews0likes9Comments
