hangs

Hello, I have frequent problems accessing NAS through Samba in LAN (no domain, ten Windows 10 computers in Workgroup). When it works it works, but it freezes randomly, when opening/saving file or folder. Latest firmware, antivirus disabled, ping <1ms. Any suggestions how to find the reason and fix are very welcome! I have no idea left what to do and now it's unussable with random freezes :(4.3KViews0likes13CommentsNV+ Stuck on (hangs on) Booting...
It's actually a RND 4000 v3 (RAIDiator 4.1.15) 4x seagate Barracuda 2TB. I think it's RAID 5 (I know I'm supposed to know, but I don't... not for sure anyway) Hi there. My NV+ is stuck on Booting...Even with browsing the discussions on 'stuck on booting' voor similar devices, I'm stuck with the next step myself. After it hangs, it will only power dwon by pulling the plug. No remote acces possible. I tried the booting with FW update option... that didn't work.... FW updated o.k. I guess, but it got stuck on Booting.... again. Same thing for the Memory-test option. After the powering-down (pulling the plug again) I numberd the drives and ran them through Seatools on my PC, performing the Short Generic test. Numbers 1,3,4 passed OK. No. 2 makes some worrying clicking noises after being connected. Test won't run (stuck at 0% at first test, the 'outer scan'). I guess that disk is completely dead. So what is next? Most interested in saving data of course. (yes I do back up regularly, but even the most recent stuff is worth saving). Any advice greatly apreciated. My NAS won't complete shut down when selected from the GUI or initiated by the power button on the unit. It hangs on the "Shutting Down Goodbye" screen with only the power indicator blinking at approximately a 1 Hz rate. Othe LEDs are on solid. Only the WoL function is enabled. Disk Spin Down and Power Timer are both off. And the Log contains all GREEN indications. Tried to manually re-install the FW from the downloaded ZIP file, but of course that did not complete because it could not shut down to restart. Did an OS Reinstall from the Boot Menu. No luck on any of these efforts. When unit hangs at Shut Down, I have to pull the DC plug from the rear and then reinsert it. Unit operates fine otherwise. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!! Running FW 6.5.1. One application loaded: PLEX. 1.77TB free out of 1.81TBSolved4.5KViews0likes9CommentsRN104 freezing during copy. How to troubleshoot?
When I try to copy files from one share to another (on the same NAS device), Windows Explorer hangs and ReadyNAS becomes unresponsive. Copying seems to work for most shares, but always causes issues for others. When the copy attempt fails, I cannot open the Admin Page (it prompts me to log in, but after logging in, I only see the screen with the firmware version). If I manage to access the Admin Page, and try to reboot or shut down, the sutdown never completes. I can't shut down using the power button either; it just displays the "Good-bye" message on the LCD panel, so I need to unplug the cord. Once rebooted (via unplugged cord), the system comes back to life, and I can access the Admin Page, reboot normally, etc, but if I try to attempt another copy, the story repeats. I am wondering how I can troubleshoot the problem. Could it be an issue with disks? Is there any way to verify that the disks are okay? Could it be the device itself? Firmware? Somehting else? I am using two 3 TB Toshiba drives configured as RAID 1 (I think I'm using Netgear's propriatary RAID configuration which automatically increaes space when you add drives). The latest firmware (v6.4.2) was installed around the time when the problem started happening a few weeks ago (before that, it had been running problem free for over a year). I do not get alerts about drive failures. The Admin Page shows that everything is fine. Did not find anything suspicious in the logs. Space info shows 973 GB free of 2.7 TB. I'm not running any apps or anti-virus on the device. All shares are configured for access from Windows (typical settings, no FTP, etc). I turned COW off, but it did not make a difference. I'm not saving snapshots. On the client side, I use Windows 10 (x64) on wired and wireless-N home network (tried different laptops, same problem). Any ideas how to troubleshoot it? If this is not obvious, I'd like to first make sure the drives are good. Is there a recommended procedure to test RAID 1 drives without the risk of breaking something? Or is there something else I'd need to check first? Thanks in advance.5.6KViews0likes28CommentsReady NAS 104 Locks Up (6.4.1)
Hello all! At some point that I haven't nailed down, my ReadyNas104 (6.4.1) hangs completely. All front lights get stuck solid, the screen continues displaying whatever was on it at the time of the hang, and the NAS begins refusing all network access, including SMB, AFP, HTTP, Anything. The only solution is to unplug it and plug it back in, triggering a volume resync, which usually fails and locks up again around 22% or so. I've performed an OS Reinstall, Complete Factory Reset, and Have tried disabling bit rot, and the antivirus scanner. The NAS is running no apps, has one user (admin), and has 2 shares, one containing disk images, the other media files. Both shares are using SMB, AFP, and NFS. The log files are availible here. Any help you could give would be appreciated.Solved3.2KViews0likes5CommentsVolume Scan Failed to Run Properly during boot
I have a ready nas business edition with iscsi enabled. It is running the latest firmware. If I reboot it normally without checking : Perform volume scan on next boot. This process can take several minutes to more than an hour depending on disk capacity and volume content. Check and fix quotas on next boot. This process can take several minutes to more than an hour depending on disk capacity and the number of files on your volume. the NAS boots fine, but if I try and check both or either of these two boxes, the NAS hangs during the boot process. I did get a notice awhile back that I needed to backup all data and check and repair volume. Please advise.2.6KViews0likes3Comments
