jgs516PE not enough PoE
1 TopicJGS516PE not powerful enough for a 13w AP
I bought the JGS516PE in the hope of using it to power my AP which according to specifications uses 13 watts. The AP using the JGS516PE provides sufficient power to the AP so that the 2.4ghz band works at full power, but the 5ghz band works at very limited power. I can only connect at 24mb/s using the 516, whereas using the native PoE injector I can get over 500mb/s. I treid this a number of times. There is nothing in the 516 specification that says what PoE specification it meets if any, just it can supply 15.4w. I suspect, but can't prove due to no test facilities the the 516 only uses 1 pair and does not meet the PoE specification for 1gb/s connections. This is very disapointing because I replaced my 716 with this and worse is that work is about to provide me with an Aruba AP that is PoE capable. I also note the VLAN functionality is very limited compared to a 716 or maybe the 516 has smarts that allow it to use jumbo packets without configuring them. Ian M2.7KViews0likes3Comments
