network map
5 TopicsNetwork Monitor not tracking wireless with 5ghz off
As it says in the title, the OS does not recognize any data flow with 5ghz disabled. I have no need of 5ghz so I keep it off but 2.4ghz is on and my mobile is connected to it. Also, the Device Manager shows my wireless as being offline on the Network Map. What gives? If I could suggest, a simple solution to this would be to seperate the wireless into the two wavelengths. The network map needs more work. The current version assumes that your primary network adapter is the subnet you want to scan. That is not always the case. We need an option to specify the subnet to scan for devices. In reality it should be reading the ARP and DHCP table from the main internet router and the application should not be scanning the network. It would also be nice if the device master list was actually stored on the router its self. Each individual Genie apps seems to be generating its own list. The network map seems to have a limit on the number of devices. I have about 55-60 IPed devices in my house and I can only see about 30 at a time. Hello Netgear its the IoT age and everything is on WiFi now... I love that parental controls and network map now allow device by device profiles settings. However, given the limitations to the network map feature above its hard to control every device, from every Genie application and from remote locations.76KViews15likes7CommentsIOS Genie app with firmware 1.0.1.18
I updated my R7900 Nighthawk router to firmware 1.0.1.18 and was glad to see mobile support for VPN services. Unfortunatly, the Genie app on my phone has a few issues with this firmware. The biggest issue is I can't see the network map and therfore can't pause the cennection of specific devices (a rather important feature as I have two teenage boys at home!). I've deleted and reinstalled the app on the phone - didn't fix it. Degraded the firmware back to 1.0.1.12, it all works. Except I can't set up VPN on a mobile device now. I even went to the extent of going to .18, setting up and verifying VPN on my phone, downgrading to .12 just on the off chance the VPN would still work. As I expected, that didn't work. Has anyone else had this problem with 1.0.1.18? Any solutions? How about an app update or new firmware from Netgear??1.2KViews0likes1CommentCan I manage Parental Controls for devices via the Network Map?
I have the R6400 model and would like to centrally manage access to all devices? i.e., the hours of access for devices on router? Can this be done? OR do I need to install genie app on each device and apply Bypass account?3.4KViews0likes1CommentGenie Network Map: In App (multiple Android) vs. Genie App on Windows and macO vs. Connected Devices
DUT: Genie 3.2.12 on Android 7.1.1 (Nexus 9), and on Android 7.1.2 (Nexus 6P); Genie Version 2.4.38 on Windows, and R9000 1.2.0.16 Can't get rid of the impression that something basic is basically broken with the handling of Attached Devices on the Nighthawk Router Genie UI, the Network Map. Not two show the same number and the same devices. Manual refresh in the same second, closing and re-open App, ... does not help. Is this just me?3.1KViews0likes1Comment
