Issue: Have new Orbi router and satellite. Install was vanilla - no issues. Updated firmware on both components to latest (a week ago). Worked as advertised- great, as a matter of fact. However, it wasn't long before we noticed battery life on our Samsung Note 5s were severely diminished! (one on Verizon, the other on US Cellular). It appeared the Verizon 3G iPad was also impacted. Example: Went to bed with phone at 100% on nightstand- woke up and it was dead. Tried turning off Orbi satellite, and thought it might have improved a little. Went back to old router (Netgear N600/WNDR3400) and the problem went away. Example: Went to bed with phone at 78% and woke up and it was at 70%. What is going on? Is there a setting that will fix this??Orbi having Problem with Cisco IP Phone SPA525G in Wireless Mode
I have an Orbi system. It has a Router, 2 satellites (RBS50s) and a wall plug in satellite (RBW30). I bought a brand new Cisco IP Phone SPA525G and have it connected wireless to my Orbi network. I bought this phone specifically for it's wireless function. I am using Vonage Business and have been on the phone for days troubleshooting. I have all settings according to Vonage Business correct on the router. I have the latest firmware as V2.0.0.74 on my router and Satellites. The RBW30 has firmware V2.0.0.34 which is the latest. Here's my problem. The Cisco IP Phone loses "registration" from Vonage. It's not losing internet connection to my knowledge. The lights turn orange on my phone and according to the phone it's registration. Vonage sees it happening as well when it does. I wait for a bit or power cycle my phone and it works fine for a while. My phone is setup to static on x.x.x.12 and I have DHCP starting at x.x.x.65. I have no other IP address using x.x.x.12 on my network. What Vonage is believing to happen is that my IP Phone is switching from satellite to router to wall plug in, etc...and this is causing a disconnect from registration. They say that the phone is constantly communicating registration status and this moving of devices drops that registration. It restores itself eventually if I don't power cycle the phone, but it's causing me a problem while I'm using it. I would prefer to have the phone only use a specified satellite or router of my choosing. If I can set it up to use a specific device, then I can troubleshoot more. I do know that while I'm looking at my orbi "attached device" menu, I notice the phone jumping from satellite to router and so forth. This is when I believe it is losing it's registration. Is there anything I can try or do to have the phone use a specific device? Also, has anyone else had this problem and what do you recommend? Thanks so much.
