152 TopicsReadyNAS Ultra 6 Plus No volume after replacing failed drive
I have a ReadyNAS Ultra 6 Plus (RNDP600U) with 6 x 3TB drives. It is running RAIDiator version 4.2.31. I thought that I had created a backup of the media and backup volumes, but either I did not complete that task or I cannot find the USB drive I was using for that. That is my fault. Recently, I found that drive #2 had failed. I replaced it with a new drive and the system started a rebuild. The rebuild failed. Now when I try to access the media or backup volumes I am told there is no volume. The ReadyNAS boots ok, but when I first attempt to access the WebUI for the admin area a popup window says: The paths for the shares listed below could not be found. Typically, this occurs when the ReadyNAS is unable to access the data volume. media backup When I access the WebUI for the shares it states, "No shares currently accessible." I tried reinstalling RAIDiator version 2.4.31 Additionally, /dev/c/c does not exist nor does /dev/c. The UI for RAIDar shows the status as "Healthy" and all six drives are operational and ok. The logs for the ReadyNAS show: Severity Date Message Fri Nov 28 20:55:55 MST 2025 System is up. Fri Nov 28 20:55:54 MST 2025 The paths for the shares listed below could not be found. The logs state the sync of drive 2 the Should I pull out /dev/sdb (Drive #2) and put it back in to restart the rebuild? Running "mdadm --detail /dev/md0" and "mdadm - -detail /dev/md1" do not show any issues and all drive partitions are active. Note: The second time back logged in under Tech Support mode running "mdadm --detail /dev/md2" states "mdadm: md device /dev/md2 does not appear to be active." I cannot repeat getting md2 apparently active to show that /dev/sdb3 is rebuilding. Does anyone have an idea how I fix this to recover access to the data? Or, do I need to acquire an enclosure to put the drives in there and attach to a Windows system to attempt data recovery with COTS software? Any help is greatly appreciated.39Views0likes6CommentsHow to install Plex on ReadyNas Ultra 6 and change OS ?
Hello everyone, Just like I wrote in the title, I want to install Plex on my old ReadyNas Ultra 6. But after many try, nothing works... I'm actually on OS 6.10.10 and I can't install any add-ons ( error message when I go on the avaible add-ons : "App installation is no longer supported with App Upload or Available Apps."). By the way same issue when i try to load the add-ons directly. Also I don't know if it's useful but just before we can't no longer install add-ons, I install Plex. But I can't configure him. When i start it, a error message pop-up " This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below. <Response code="503" title="Maintenance" status="Plex Media Server is currently running startup maintenance tasks."/>" Besides, I would to know if someone manage to change the OS (Linux or whatever). I would like to change the OS for more flexibility and update but I don't really found any answer. Thank you PS : Just below a translate in French (maternal language ) just in case, if someone in one of these two language can help me 🤝 --------------------------------- Bonjour à tous, Comme je l'ai écrit dans le titre, je veux installer Plex sur mon vieux ReadyNas Ultra 6. Hi, I have a ReadyNas DUO RND2000 V2. After having it moved, it will no longer start when the harddrive is incerted. Nothing happens. It simply doesn´t start. If I remove the disk, the ReadyNas starts and the blue lamp starts blinking as it should. What is wrong ? And how do I get access to my harddrive? I guess better communicate in English! Well I am facing unaccessibie local administrator page. Nas actually connected cascading on a switc/router with static IP. The Nas has been resetted to intial condition and OS reinstalled. It shows two predefined folders. It is visible if scanned in the lan, how ever is not possible to access as administrator. The scope is to transfer on it folders to be shared by three PC's in network. So far I am not sure it will fullfill my scope. Any suggestion ? The requested resource does not exist. This error appeared after replacing the RAM module and after a clean sutdown. The normal procedures for recovery didn't work. The RN312 doesn't have a display, but the corresponding lights to recover didn't even light up. Connected the RN312 to a monitor (HDMI) and concluded the installed RAM was supported. Therefore I assume the the factory boot image (DOM?) seemed to be damaged. Tried to use the Netgear os6-recovery-tool-v2.0.r17. Don't forget to put your corresponding firmware download into the corresponding subfolder of the unpacked recovery tool before using it, in my case the x86 folder. This is not in the manual! After trying 4 USB sticks (4 Gb and 8 Gb) with the recovery tool, the ReadyNAS refused to boot with neither of the sticks. Contacted support, they had no solution. Then I took the oldest USB stick I had, 2 Gb. The fifth one. And guess? The RN312 booted form that old, crappy USB stick, and I got my NAS back. I guess this problems and solvation goes also for the other RN312 models, but also for the RN2xx and 4xx models. Conclusion 1: Netgear can get instable by increasing RAM. Always back-up!!! Conclusion 2: I suppose that Netgear NAS systems are very picky about the used USB sticks. This is a real problem in case you are getting the same error/ same problem I got. An HDMI connector or at least a display is recommended to solve these kind of problems. Hope you can use this thread. Kind regards!ReadyNAS Duo
