reinstall
4 TopicsRN10200 Unable to Boot or reset or reinstall OS
My ReadyNAS is invisible to raidAIR and doesn't even show up under my routers connected devices list. I've tried several times to factory reset and it doesn't seem to work. I tried upgrading firmware back sometime in the winter and since then the readyNAS got put away in a box. Recently went to use it again and remembered why it ended up in the box... I've tried an OS reinstall just now with 2 different USB sticks, both times the process goes about it's thing very quickly, but then nothing happens. Is the readyNAS toast or should I just keep trying with other USB drives? Also, the unit is unresponsive to the power button and passed the memory test. I'm kind of stumped.5.1KViews0likes14CommentsReadyNAS 214 on 6.7.4 - MySQL app failed to start
Yesterday I updated the firmware on my ReadyNAS 214 to 6.7.4. Once installed, the MySQL app stopped functioning. I rely on that for my web-based business management software that I wrote. Here's where I started: 1) Tried starting the app from the web interface. Got an error "Aplication failed to initialize" with "Code: 22002010000" 2) Tried without success both a reboot, and a shutdown and restart. 3) Tried uninstalling MySQL, PHPMyAdmin and reinstalling - same result. 4) Checked file permissions for the /var/lib/mysql database directory - all say mysql 5) Checked file permissions for the /etc/mysql directory - all say root 6) Tried to check the status from command line with this result: 'Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' (2)' Here's what fixed it: 1) So I made sure the processes were killed, ( sudo pkill mysqld; sudo pkill mysql ) 2) removed the app from the web interface 3) purged it from the command line ( sudo apt-get remove --purge mysql\* ) 4) Reinstalled the MySQL and PHP MyAdmin from the web interface 5) Everything worked again!! And my databases and MySQL users/permissions stayed intact. Yeah! Don't know if that helps anyone else, but it did for me.2.8KViews0likes2CommentsReadynas 102 restarts services constantly - unable to access data.
My ReadyNas 102 running firmware 6.7.4, seems to be constantly restarting services. I'm sometimes able to see the shares... sometimes even get a few files..., but then it "disappears" and the network location is gone. ... until a minute or so later. Even the web-ui ... I'm sometimes able to see the status-screen before it jumps back into a loading-page waiting for the ui to become responsive again. I've tried reinstalling the OS, but it didn't work. I was thinking about flashing new firmware, but that requires the services to be open long enough for the process to finish.... Is it possible to connect the drive to a computer - windows or linux... and get the data through USB? The drive seems to be ok, although; It's the remains of a degraded RAID-1 setup. Thanks for all advice..Solved1.4KViews0likes6CommentsOS Reinstall worked ... UPS issue?
First off many thanks to Netgear and everyone in this forum...after reading several posts from here...I was able to fix my issue after some initial panic. But I'm wondering what happened or if I have the UPS setup wrong. My RN104 (with 4x8TB drives and latest FW) has been trucking along for almost 10 years with no issues..but last night, our power went out for 5-10 minutes and the unit turned itself off, despite being physically connected to a UPS. I also have a synology NAS connected to same UPS and it has the USB cable connected to it. My Netgear RN104 is monitoring the UPS using the network SNMP connection from the synology. When i powered on the Rn104, it booted up fine to 100% but then totally shut off within 30 seconds. Same thing after several attempts and connecting power directly to wall. I pulled out the drives and when I booted up, it was fine and I could connect to it browser. Put the drives back in, praying for a miracle, but NADA...same behavior, shutdown immediatley following boot up. I started to panic given that Netgear no longer supports Readynas...but I kept reading and researching. Eventually, from the posts here and the Netgear manual, I decided to try the OS reinstall option and that did the trick...I was able to login and deal with minor IP address issues..but no data loss! The logs show when the power went out and came back...but then this entry seems odd: Jun 21, 2025 01:15:42 AM System: The system is shutting down. Jun 21, 2025 01:15:25 AM System: UPS UPS () is forcing shutdown. After I restored, I deleted the UPS SNMP entry(just in case)...but could this be a bug in OS 6 code to read the network UPS? or did I set up wrong? Anyone use a Readynas with SNMP UPS and the codes it receives? No issues on the Synology NAS with the same UPS(via cable) when power came back online. Also wondering if I should start thinking about a replacement/newer unit. But this is my 2nd Netgear ReadyNas I have owned and I think they work perfect for my use cases. Again, many thanks to this community. Sorry for long post...TLDR: Is there something wrong with UPS codes being read by Readynas OS6 or time to replace?79Views0likes5Comments
