slow speed
4 TopicsR7000 slow speed on mobile devices
Backstory.. had 100 Meg internet thru ISP and would get that over WiFi easily. They gave me a free speed upgrade to 200 Meg and now my mobile devices (Android phones/tablets and apple phones/tablets) will not get more than 45-50 Meg download. My laptop will get 200+ on WiFi easily, but all of our mobile devices cannot get past 45-50 Meg. I've tried changing between 2.4 and 5 GHz and no difference. I changed dns on router and still no difference. Also tried enabling and disabling ipv6 and still nothing. Even did a factory reset and reconfigured router and still nothing. Called my ISP and they say it's not them. I tend to agree with them as I am not sure how they could throttle my mobile devices. Although it's odd that it worked perfectly fine until they upgraded my speed. I did call the ISP to see about downgrading back to 100 Meg to see if it would work but doing that would cause me to get a data cap (have unlimited now). Anyone ever have experience with issues like this? Not really sure what to do next besides buy a new router, but my nighthawk is less than a year old.Solved2.6KViews0likes2CommentsR6700 losing internet speed
When my Internet speed used to be 25Mbps, the download speed I get from R6700 router (wired & wireless) was average 28Mbps. Last week my ISP doubled my Internet speed to 55Mbps but I can only get avg download speed of 28Mbps from the R6700(wired connection). When I connected directly to modem, my download speed is 60Mbps. I also tried to use another old router and still get 60Mbps. Any solution?Solved5KViews0likes4CommentsRouter gets VERY slow and needs reboot
I've had this router for about 1 year. It worked well, but after about 3 weeks things would start streaming slow, movies and games. After a restart everything worked fine. A month ago I started having issues with my wife's phone, Galaxy S6. It would stay connected, but internet was so slow it was unusable. The mobile network was fine. If we connected to wifi at a store or libray it was fine. Only time we had an issue is at home. To give you an idea if we did a Speedtest it would take 1-2 minutes to "Find the Best Server". After that push "Begin Test" and the speed was about 75 Mbps. For my phone the "Find the Best Server" was 2-3 seconds. Do the same test on the mobile network and it works great. I tried moving it from 5 ghz to 2.4, changed the encryption, rebooted the phone, reset the phone, rebooted the router nothing helped the speed. Finally I tried connecting with WPS instead of using the passphrase and that worked. For a while. Every 1-2 days it gets slow again. I need to reboot the router, then it works fine again for another 1-2 days. Provider is Xfinity and I believe we have the latest firmware. Needless to say it's very frustrating to have to reboot the router every day. Today it worked only 12 hours and I had to reboot again. We have 4 computers, Chromecast, smart appliances, ipods, and none of them have a problem. Only 1 phone and then it only started a month ago. Any ideas? This is very frustrating. I have been experiencing random performance issues with my Netgear Nighthawk X4 router. I have very fast internet speeds (160+mbps) but if I load several webpages at once (eg. 5 at a time), they get stuck loading and eventually have no response. This is over a 5G wireless connection. I have to wait several minutes and reload them all individually again. I have disabled QoS, WMM and have the latest firmware but it makes no difference. I must say, this is quite vexing. I expect more from a router of this price and suposed caliber. Any suggestions?Solved4.5KViews0likes5Comments
