Dear Netgear, 1. The mac address control (block/allow) ability is pretty weak. I really need the ability to schedule device level access, preferrably by mac address, via a time and day schedule. 2. Additionally, we need override buttons on the Genie apps to immidiately block and release internet access via the router. Push a button, it disables access. Push it again, it resumes access. Furthermore, an override button if (and only if) mac address scheduled controls have been enabled, as described above. Push a button, it overrrides the schedule. Push it again, the schedule resumes. Nothing is perfect, right? I mean, what if my pregnant wife wakes up at 3:04am and wants to Google 'pickles and ice cream' and her shiny new iPhone is blocked via schedule? Bad husband! It easy.... just copy paste the code from one of your other packages. I mean, we're talkng about the grandaddy Netgear Tri-Band Nighthawk R8500 four antenna monster here aren't we? We need souped up software to go along with that drag racing wifi router. How about RGB LEDs for those antenna tips while we're at it? (JK) MikeNetgear Genie Still Crashing

PLEASE update the Genie program. It is so slow, clunky, outdated, and ugly. It's really pathetic, especially in the vain of more expensive hardware. The user experience does not match the price. It's like buying a Mercedes but the seats are made of cheap cloth. If I spend hundreds of dollars on a top of the line product, I expect the software to be excellent. This is to revive the "closed" discussion thread with the same title at https://community.netgear.com/t5/Home-Networking-Apps/Netgear-Genie-won-t-quit-on-Mac-OS-X/m-p/1145204#M717 from January 2016, which is misleadingly marked as "solved": what is actually provided there is a hack that "solves" the issue with NETWORK Genie hanging when "quit" by sacrificing/disabling functionality through renaming of a library file. (at the same time, NETWORK Genie is unstable and does crash -- please see the topical thread.) Any hopes for this being addressed anytime soon? Alternatively: is there any official position/recommendation by NETGEAR to use open source linux-based software on a R7800 Nighthawk X4? Hi, I need help with a netgear sprint 6100d router, for some reason the router will lose connection at random times during the day or go extremely slow. I know this isnt just my router, i have friends that have the exact same router and have to reboot it at least once a day. I don't know if its the software version. I have the most current version, and i dont know what is going on. I need to know if there is a issue with the software, or do i need to use a previous version, the computer says failed to connect to a dns server, it like needs to be reboot once a day or more to keep the internet up. I was wondering if someone can help me if there is a setting i can change to fix this, i even tried to fix it by changing the dns server to google's dns server but that didnt help. I have devices that need to stay on 100% the time without having the router reboot, I have tried updating the prl as well but that doesnt solve my problem If anyone can help me please let me know, Thanks, TheawesomeMCBSolvedWhy do you provide such horrible support and software/firmware?
For a netgear moderator to answer. Do you guys even care about the customer base? Your software is horrible and you do nothing about it. You don't seem to pay attention to or listen to feedback. Replaced my GS108 with a JGS524Ev2 24-port switch. Everything is working with just plug-and-play. I've installed the ProSafe Utility on two different Windows 10 machines. On both I can see the switch and the switch will be highlighted, but the radio button not selected. I receive an error about the switch and manager IP not being on the same subnet. Everything was booted fresh from modem, to router and then to switch. DHCP is assigned to my Eero router, not the switch. I'm somewhat of a novice to networking, but fairly decent about following instructions. Just purhcased a GS108Ev3 switch, and I was able to open up the ProSafe Plus Config utility and select the switch to assign an IP address. The switch is working with the attached devices, and I can ping it via the IP assigned to it. My computer I am trying to access the switch with via the utility is in the same subnet. But, I cannot do any other "management" on the switch. When I click the APPLY button once highlighting the switch, I am prompted for the password (which is still the default as I cannot get beyond this to change it), so I enter that, and then the utlity just sits there with its "busy" icon for the mouse cursor. It never comes back, I cannot select any other actions in the utility. I have to kill the utility completely. Any ideas so I can do other settings/fireware updates?Solved
