static ip
8 TopicsIssues with static ip on IOT device, connecting to extender and not router!
I am working on setting up some IOT NodeMCU chips that are running a web page. I ran into an issue and needed a static ip, which I programmed in and all that seems to work fine. I have reserved my ip in my router and that seems to be working, but when the chiip connected before the static ip, it connected to any ip other than the reserved one? Had the correct mac and all seems to have been setup in the router correctly. So I programmed the NodeMCU 8266 chip to "request" a static ip. My programming is working, the only issue is now the chip connects to my range extender, not the router, as I ask for it to connect to the ip and since the range extender has the same password, the chip connects up to the range extender and can't be seen by devices (computers) on the router. I am new to range extenders and wonder how can I differentiate the connection to 192.168.1.1 to be the router and not the range extender?816Views0likes1Commentstatic IP address does not save, says "argument missing"
Hi, Every time I enter the static ip info I got from my ISP, I click apply and it doesn't save it. At the top of the screen it says "argument missing". I do not see any blank area that I could add more info...it just fauils to save my entries. I have the latest firmware installed. This is kind of urgent, any help appreciated. Hello friends, I have returned to my favorite forum for some good advice about static IPs on my network. I've done some studying and some tests and I understand how to set static IP on my NASs (plural) and machines. I'm just trying to be real careful so I want to post here and ask questions. I will try to make them intelligent as possible. To begin: I know that I should set my static IPs to be outside the range of the DHCP in my router. I actually tried that with my old NAS as an experiment. I set it to be outside that range, like 192.168.1.60. The NAS adopted it and the status panel confirmed this. Here's what happened: my router won't let me set that static IP because the old IP is still in the DHCP list. Do I need to turn off/on the router to clear out that list? Is that the next step? This sounds like a dumb question to me but I'm trying to be *real* careful. As always, any and all advice is very welcome. best Ken6.2KViews0likes14CommentsStatic IP Address and NAT for internet printing
I'm actually asking about an 815S for AT&T, but anyway, I'm the I. T. manager of a company and I have an employee with one of these air cards at home. She wants to work from home, the only problem is that for her to be able to print from our back end system to one of her printers at home, she needs a static IP address and I need to be able to set up NAT to direct the print jobs to her printer. I don't think that this AirCard can do that. Just to break this down to its simplest terms, I want to be able to send a print job to a static IP attached to this AirCard, then forward that print job to the printer's internal IP, which happens to be 192.168.1.212. If anyone has any ideas on how I can do this, even if it means some other kind of equipment, I would appreciate it. I'm fine with her working at home and I'll pay for whatever she needs, but I don't think the AirCard 815S can do it. She's running Windows 10. Many thanks, Steve YoungBrother states I need static IP address so printer can reconnect to network
Model C3700-100NAS Brother tech support said that since the wireless printer drops from the network and and then won't reconnect as expected anytime my router hiccups, I should configure the router to hold a static IP address. There is no documentation online for this model nor do I understand any of the terminology. I am able to access my account and view the contents of the advanced tab. Can someone walk me through? Would it be ok for me to post a screen shot of the LAN Setup tab (if that's what I need) or would that violate my security? Thank you.7KViews0likes7CommentsLimited static IP assignment
Dear all, I have just get the modem router Netgear N450 and I try to assign static IP following MAC address. I did 16 IP astatic assignment but when I try to add one more I got the error message "lan address error entry" During the troubleshooting I remove one static and add the other one with success but still failed one I go over 16 IP static. It seems there is a limit of IP static that we can assign on the router. Does anyone have seen this issue? Thanks2.6KViews0likes2CommentsNAS Rn104, ready cloud user problem, static IP problem, no NAS device found
NAS 104, FW 6.4.1 First problem: readycloud and other updates doesn't work if I set static IP on NAS? Why? Second: What should I do, if I'm not able to see NAS device in win explorer network? I tried refresh, network is private, and I can ping my device. I can access to device thru web browser? Any idea how to solve this. Otherwise I don't know how to map network drive for home shares? Because until firs check-in home directory(dir) for invited user is not created. Third: I have old cloud user. Today I invited him true readycloud to my public dir. No errors during the process, but I cannot access this folder thru win explorer. I tried to enter un and pw (some un and pw I used to enter readycloud) but it doesn't work (yes un & pw I wrote are correct). When I sign in in readycloud it can't find my device, then I press button to discover it and it find it, but then I get this image, to manage site, which brings me to admin page. At admin page I can see that this old user is member of Public dir. So why my user can't see my NAS device, and why I can't enter to public dir using win explorer? So I have an router and network setup and running fine. port forwarding and static ip is working just fine on my Ubuntu server box, but the ports are full and I need to run the box off a switch now. So I took an old netgear router and set it up as a switch (dynamic ip windows10 pc running through switch fine) but my Server box just won't connect, the light on the router doesn't even light up to say they are communicating. (all the cabling and ports are fine) I am assuming it has something to do with the static ip address, I have added a static route (I also do not know for sure if I am fililng it out right / even if this is something I need to be doing) the set up for the static route has the destination ip set the the ip i am trying to make static and subnet is 255 for all then gateway is the gateway ip and i used metric of 2. thanks for any help.Solved
