7 TopicsConnected Devices displaying differently since update to V1.3.0.12
Before I updated to the new V1.3.0.12 firmware, under "Attached Devices", it would show which devices were connected to the router and which were connected to the satellite. Now, after the update to V1.3.0.12, it only shows the Satellite at the top, along with it's IP and MAC address (under "Connected Satellites). Then below (under "Connected Devices), it has a list of every device connected to the home network (14 total for me), IP/MAC addresses of each and if it's a wired/wireless connection. It no longer sorts the devices as being connected to the Router or to the Satellite. Before, this was really handy, expecially to diagnose connection issues with whatever device. Is this normal, a bug, or what? If this is a bug or intentional, can we get that re-implemented in a future update? Thanks!SolvedFeature request (force a device to a specific Orbi)
I have one problem device that, for some reason, always chooses the Satellite Orbi instead of the Router Orbi, which is always the furtherest away from the device. The Router Orbi is by far the closer one to the device. I can reboot the network and the device will connect to the Router, but will eventually creep back to the Satellite for whatever reason. It's a stationary device (TV) and never moves. I'd like to request to have a feature implemented that will allow us to "force" or designate a specific device to a specific Orbi. I know they plan on releasing a firmware that will allow us to customize how the lights on top act (always on, etc), which I hope gets released soon! Also, a Guest Network feature would rock!Orbi RB(R/S)50 Not Auto Updating to Firmware v2.0.0.76
It appears that there's a firmware hotfix available here: https://kb.netgear.com/000049562/RBR50-RBS50-Firmware-Version-2-0-0-76-Hot-Fix However when I log in to my Orbi using the Android App and go to About then Check for Orbi Firmware Updates, or log in to orbilogin.com, they say there is no new firmware version available. Firstly, why doesn't the 2.0.0.76 firmware show up when I check and secondly, why didn't the Orbi automatically update itself? EDIT - The Date/Time Stamp on the above hotfix is: Last Updated:11/02/2017 | Article ID: 000049562 So this fix has been out almost a full month...SolvedWhat are the parameters for automatic firmware update?
What, exactly, are the parameters for which a router and/or satellite will auto-update? I know the initial firmware release had a bug that prevented it from working, but I can honestly say I've never once had either device automatically update on its own (a la Google OnHub and Eero). I've waited up to 3 days after a formal release with no automatic updates at all (though both devices will readily update from the web UI after detecting a new version has been released, so I know that part is working). Just wasn't sure what the thresholds were in terms of days after release, whether the router and satellite want to auto-update at the same time or separately, how each determines the best time of day to do it (based on clock? utilization patterns? something else?), etc. RodneyAre you going to compensate us for this non-availability of service? ? ( ORBI disconnections)
Hello, I bought an Orbi in the summer of 2017. (package 1 routeur / 1 satellite) until October 2017, I didn't have problems. But I made an update (my biggest error !) and since I have disconnections. (currently i have 2.1.2.18 firmware) I am no longer able to listen to music (Sonos) or watch Netflix. It has been 3 months now. I do not know what to do ! I understand the issue is with the Google product, If your product is not compatible with google products said it on the box. Are you going to compensate us for this non-availability of service? ? My job is to advise people for technological products. I am not in a position to recommend you product ... I am really disappointed because I find your product really interesting and well positioned Thank you JulienOrbi RB50 very slow speed after update 2.0+
Hey guys, As you guys already know the firmware update issue on the Orbi is never ending. This is my 4th orbi set and after updating them to the latest firmware my internet speed gets cut down by 75%. Out of the box both routers work perfectly fine running RBS50 Firmware Version 1.4.0.18 but when i updated to RBS50 Firmware Version 2.0.0.74 (the auto update check says this is the latest update, which isn't) the internet speed goes down from around 250-300mbps to around 50mbps. So i decided to do a manual update to the actual latest update: RBS50 Firmware Version 2.1.1.16 but the slow internet speed is not fixed. This is not a distance issue or a hardware issue, it is specifically a firmware issue. There are hundreds of complaints on this all over the internet. What is the solution Netgear? Please stop ignoring this well-known issue. The router works perfectly fine out of the box and this has been the case my previous 3 routers, which included the AC2200 and the AC3000. I am so tired of this ongoing issue and lack of care from Netgear regarding this issue. I am in the process of manually downgrading it but for some reason, the internet is still slow. It seems like the firmware update as a whole screwed up the router. smh. I have posted pictures before and after the update. So frustrating!
