9 TopicsWhich one is better: WN3000RP or EX2700?
Hello, I was researching on buying a Wi-Fi range extender for my home and found the following two, which fits my budgets and needs: WN3000RP: https://www.netgear.com/home/products/networking/wifi-range-extenders/WN3000RP.aspx EX2700: https://www.netgear.com/home/products/networking/wifi-range-extenders/EX2700.aspx Now, I am kind of confused which one of these two are better. The price difference is not much, and from description in the Netgear site, both looks functionally same. Can some one in the community help me to make a wise decision? I am mostly concerened about the following things: 1. Which one is a newer model and likely to be supported for a longer time (from firmware update perspective)? 2. Which one has a better Wi-Fi signal range? 3. Any known bugs/issues in either of the two. Thanks in advance and looking forward for your comments/suggestions which can help me decide between the two. Thanks.2.8KViews0likes1CommentWN3000RPv2 Firmaware image missing
Hardware Version WN3000RPv2 Firmware Version V1.0.0.36 GUI Language Version V1.0.0.25 I done a firmware check and it tells me its upto date..... However if I go to this website https://www.netgear.com/support/product/WN3000RPv2?cid=wmt_netgear_organic it tells me version v1.0.2.64 If I download the link I shows a .chk file, but to upload it I need an .img file If I look in WN3000RPv3 I see the same version but with a .img file, I did try and upload the file but it warns me its the wrong file. I tried to amend to v2 but it still says wrong file. So how can I get the .img file for v2? Any help very much appreciated.2.4KViews0likes6CommentsWN3000RP range extender Windows Has Detected an IP Conflict!! Please Help
Hello, I just bought WN3000RP N300 range extender to extend the wifi into my garage, and I got the WPS to work. So the extender is connected ot the router and I can connect to it with my computer. I can get into the menu and I can change the IP configuration. However, This only works when the range extender is not physically plugged into my router with an ethernet cable. The problem with using it this way is that it doesn't always work and it frequently drops connection and I have to reset both the extender and the router. I read online that for best performance, I should have the extender plugged into the router via an ethernet cable. This is ok for me, as I dont expect anything better from a $30 device. When I plug the extender into the router, I can connect to it, I can go online just like when it's not physically plugged in.... BUT after 5 secodns, windows gives me a prompt "Windows Has Detected an IP Conflict" And the connection drops. If I disconnect and reconnect again, the same thing happens. This only happens when I have the extender plugged into the router. I tried setting the extender to use DHCP and to use a static ip of 192.168.1.250 The same exact thing happened. Please let me know what I need to do in order to use this device properly. Thank you2.4KViews0likes1CommentWN3000RP signal ext
I have the WN3000RP signal extender, that is extending my signal from my main router, which is a Cisco Linksys EA3500. However I have a older Netgear router which is a WGR614v10. I cannot seem to get the netgear and the Cisco linksys router to connect as in repeat or bridge, (unless i am doing something wrong). So I thought I would extender the signal with the extender and tehn connect the Netgear router to the extender as a bridge or repeater. Any advice? Thank you in advance.5.5KViews0likes6CommentsHelp! WN3000RP range extender no longer connects since Windows 10
Hi All, I have found other posts on this community and the Microsoft community with users struggling to understand why their extenders no longer work. I took advantage of the free Win 10 upgrade but now am very frustrated that I can no longer connect to the my range extender. I have already: ensured the latest firmware is installed, shut off anti-virus protection and completed reboots of both my Netgear wireless router and extender. I'm out of options. Others must fill this pain. It makes no sense to me that this device (Lenovo Laptop) can connect to the wireless router but not the extender with the exact same info. I've completed all the obvious trouble shooting and different combinations of logging on. I am eager to hear another idea of how to solve this without giving up and buying a new extender. Sincerely, Jonathan2.9KViews0likes4CommentsWN3000RP won't connect to Samsung Tab S2
I have used a WN3000RP for a couple of years with an HP laptop, Samsung Galaxy Note and various Samsung phones. I have now bought a Samsung Tab S2 8.0 tablet. It sees the WN3000RP but cannot connect to it. I have undated the WN3000RP firmware but it has not made any difference. The Tablet connects to the wifi router fine, just not the WN3000RP. Error message is "Falied to obtain IP address" Any thoughts?3.2KViews0likes2CommentsWPS connected WN3000RP to the router but devices can't access the internet thru the extender
The extender has worked OK until recently then no internet connectivity. It has been re-connected successfully to the router using WPS buttons but devices won't connect to the internet through the extender. Tried Following 'Resolution' on http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/25504 but when I connect my laptop via ethernet to the extender and enter http://mywifiext.net/ it goes straight to an 'Oops' : 'Oops! It seems that you have navigated to this page by accident. If you are looking to connect to the user interface of your NETGEAR Powerline or WiFi Extender device, please connect to that device’s WiFi hotspot and try the URL again (http://mywifiext.net) You can make sure you are connected to your extender by following these simple steps: Use the WiFi network manager on your mobile device, such as a computer or tablet, to find and connect to the NETGEAR_EXT (SSID) WiFi network (or the name of the network you chose [name]_EXT). On a Windows PC, click the WiFi button and select your WiFi network....' but, of course, can't connect to the extender thru a 'WiFi hotspot. So at a dead end... I would suppose the extender hasn't picked up the network key from the router - is there another way in to the extender via ethernet to correct the network key? Note the up/down arrows flicker when trying to connect a device.13KViews0likes13CommentsWN3000RP and BT Home Huib 5 not seeing eachother
Hi all, Have an old WN3000RP ranmeg extender (an origional one I giuess, as no V1, V2 etc extensions to its name) which has always managed to automatically change its address whenever I have chanegd routers before. Have just upgraded from a BT Hiome Hub 2 to a Home Hub 5 with infinity, and this time it hasn't. Still shows as an available network on the PC, but still with its old HomeHub 2-EXT address. Have tried 1) synching using WPS 2) factory reset, 3) hardwiring to the router using the WN3000RP's ethernet port (I suspect its output only, but hey, I'm desperate!) and 4) accessing the local Netgear browser to help me - won't even conmnect it as it says 'Internet not found'. All lights are green, apart from the 'Link Rate light'. Any ideas? It shows as a Secured available network on the PC with good strength (its sat right next to the PC) so it is 'seeing' it, but when you try and connect it responds with 'No Internet, Secured'. Suspect if I could make it 'jumo' from its old Home Hub 2_EXT address to a Home Hub 5_EXT like it always has by itself in the past, all will be well, but am fresh out of ideas on how to do this. Hello! I have a WN3000RPv1h2 with V1.0.2.64_1.1.86. It's working fine as a WiFi extender and used to work also as a wired access point. Now, however, the wired connection cannot be established anymore. I've tried multiple devices Linux & Windows and multiple cables and rebooted the extender multiple times with no luck. All the devices work well with WiFi provided by the same extender and with wired connection provided by the ADSL box the extender is connected to. I'm suspecting a hardware problem as there seems to be no options for configuring the wired connection. Monitoring the traffic with Linux Wireshark reveals that the Linux dhcp client requests for configuration, but WN3000RP is not responding. Is there anything I could do to see what is happening or, even better, to get my wired connection working? It used to work... One strange thing... The Attached Devices listing shows many of the wireless connections in the list of wired devices. Actually there should be no wired devices connected because the wired connection is not working... Yours, JormaSolved5.4KViews0likes2Comments
