x86 Public Beta
13 TopicsUpgrading from 4.2.x direct to 6.3.5 beta
You can update direct to 6.3.5 beta Here's how to upgrade 1. Download the firmware image linked to above and the R4toR6_Prep_Addon.bin (26 KB) 2. Install the Prep add-on via Frontview e.g. via Add-Ons > Add New 3. Install the firmware image via System > Update > Local, reboot when prompted. The Prep add-on will get the NAS to automatically do a factory default at the appropriate point. If you don't install the Prep add-on the NAS will get stuck at some point and you will need to power down and do a factory default via the boot menu7.3KViews0likes0CommentsOS6.2 On ReadyNAS Pro 6
Anyone have any experience installing R6 on this specific R4 unit? Any issues with the installation or post-intsall? I've been doing some reading. Is it really as simple as installing the R4toR6 prep addon and then updating the firmware with official 6.2 download? I realize a factory default is required as part of the process.4.8KViews0likes8CommentsWake On Lan
I have been using Wake On Lan rather nicely with 6.x on various Legacy devices. Up to now all of them have used only one Ethernet connection. Now I'm using a Ultra 6 with both NICs bonded as Adaptive Load Balancing. I can still wake up the NAS using a Wake On Lan app but for whatever reason XBMC (13.2) won't wake up the Ultra 6. It still wakes up a PC so its appears to be working. My Wake On Lan app shows two entries for the NAS both with the same IP address and different MAC addresses and I can wake it up selecting either one. Now I did some casual testing with them bonded and didn't notice any performance increased with SMB. I believe I did see a boost with iSCSI... a decent increase in overall speed. I guess I'll remove the bonding and see if it then works but I'm wondering if anyone has run across such and if so any hints on getting it to work?4KViews0likes9CommentsAlerts via Google
I know it was working with the 6.2 beta but not for some reason it won't send Alerts now. I have reentered my email address (google), clicked on Automatic then Apply. Every time I tell it to send a test message it spins for a while and reports unable to send... Now I guess it hasn't worked since I put this drive into the Ultra 4. It was in a Ultra 2 Plus. I upgraded the Ultra 4 with another drive to OS 6.2 beta and then swapped drives. Everything else appears to be working great.2.9KViews0likes9CommentsBackup error 'destination is read-only', 6.2.3 (Beta 9)
ReadyNAS Ultra 2 Plus OS 6.2.3-T1751 (Beta 9) I connected the backup USB3-drive to the front USB3-port. One of the six backup jobs now get the "Backup: Error backup job 'xxx': destination is read-only". Files have been copied though. The backup_002.log file says "status: 13". The backup_002_error.log file is empty. I did not run this now failing backup job on all previous Betas, so no track record. To get pass this problem I deleted the backup job and the destination folder and created a new backup job with the same source and destination. Another thing to be mentioned that I think has been there for a while: In the Backup tab there is the Status column. If starting several jobs they are put in "queue" state and executed one at a time and get "in progress" state. Often when a job is comleted there is no "completed" state. To know which jobs is comleted you have to use the refresh button.2.9KViews0likes3CommentsConnecting USB-drive not working on 6.3.3 (Beta 7)
ReadyNAS Ultra 2 Plus OS 6.3.3-T138 (Beta 7) and 6.2.3-T1730 (Beta 7) Upgraded from 6.3.3 (Beta 6) to 6.3.3 (Beta 7). Now it's not possible to connect my USB3-drive to the front port on the Ultra 2+. The two back USB2-ports are working. I'm not shure if I had this problem with Beta 6. Downgraded to 6.2.3-T1730 (still Beta 7) and now it's working fine.2.5KViews0likes3Comments
