Adding new wired RBS50 to existing mesh

I have an existing mesh consisting of an RBR50 router and one RBS50 satellite, all wireless.

I have a new office in my rear yard and want to add a new RBS50 satellite there. I have an ethernet cable running between the house and the office, but the office is out of wifi range of the router.

I added the new satellite to the network via wireless while it was in the house and ensured that it was updated to the latest firmware. Router and both satellites are all on the latest firmware.

I then moved the new satellite out to the office and plugged in the ethernet cable and it appeared to be working. However, now that I've moved all my devices out to the office, it's clear the satellite is not working at all. It was showing as attached over 2.4Ghz with poor backhaul - no mention of wired at all.

The end result I want to achieve is a single network, with the office satellite wired into the network but broadcasting the same SSID. Is this possible?

Sort of. I enabled beam-forming on the router and changed the placement of the satellite in the office and it now seems to be within wifi range and everything works now. Both satellites are connected directly to the router over 5G and backhaul status is good.

How is the RBS in the remote location ethernet connected to the RBR?

Be sure to ethernet connect the RBS using one of the following connection methods. https://kb.netgear.com/000051205/What-is-Ethernet-backhaul-and-how-do-I-set-it-up-on-my-Orbi-WiFi-System 📡

Be sure ethernet cabling is good and in good working order.

    CAT6 lan cable is recommended.

Test the RBS while in same room as the RBR with a ethernet cable connected behind the RBR.

Yep, the router is connected to an ethernet socket in the wall, and the satellite is connected to the ethernet wall socket in the office. Cable run underground between the two (about 20 metres). Electrician tested the cable connectivity on install.

The other satellite remains wireless only.

Is that OK, or do all satellites have to use ethernet?

Hmm. Once I turned on beam forming it all seems to work now without the ethernet connection after all 🤷‍♂️
