Backhaul instability . RBR50, 2 RBS50 and 1O Orbi Wall.

I have RBR50, 2 RBS50 and 1O Orbi Wall.  and 36 attached devices, 10 wired 26 wireless.

Most of the time I have GOOD reading on Backhaul between RTR (Router Firmware Version
V2.5.1.16) and all 3 Sat's. Using Xfinity Internet and SpeedTest on Orbi APP shows 300M Down/ 20-30Up (Typically) .

Every once in a while the wireless performance seems to decrease and if I check ORBI app, it shows poor performance between RBR and RBS devices.  The Orbi Wall shows Good.

Nothing has moved, been added, and no other environmental changes I can detect.

Any ideas on why the backhaul seems to be flaky/unstabile?

ALso is it possible to send a reboot/sync signal to remote Sat's?  Or I guess I could walk around house and power off/on.

  • If you have changed nothing, added other devices, etc, I suspect WIFI channel interference. I would check tyo see what the best WIFI channel you can set for better performance. 5Ghz is usually not bothered much, but 2.4Ghz can get interference from neighbors, cordless phones, etc. You can use a program like NetSpot to see what channels youy neighbors are on.

Yes.  Each Orbi can be set to allow access via telnet.  This is an option on the Orbi web "debug" page, http://orbilogin.net/debug.htm.

Once "Enable Telnet" is checked, the Orbi can be accessed by a telnet program from a PC, Mac, tablet, etc.  Since my basic platforms are Windows and Linux, I use the PuTTY app (free).  It allows me to store information for many servers which I can pick from a drop down menu.  (Saves typing)  I have one for my Orbi router, Orbi satellite, and serveral other hosts that I sometimes telnet into.

So, telnet into one satellite.  Login with "admin" and the web interface password.  Type "reboot".

Repeat with the other two satellites.

Is this easier than walking around and pressing the power button? No idea.  Since I telnet into my Orbi router at least once a day to check on this and that, it was worth the setup time and learning curve.

The original post did not mention how the satellites connect.  All directly to the router or some in a "Daisy Chain"?
