Best Cable Modem for an RBR40

I am trying to replace my Comcast rented router with my own Router.  I purchased a Arris Surfboard 8200 and could not get my Orbi to work at all.  Had a good hardwired connection.  Tried everything for 2 days with no luck so I put the Comcast router back on.

Anyone have a recommendation for a very compatible cable modem?  Obviously do not need the wifi as I run everything thru the Orbi

I returned the Arris to Best Buy.

The SB8200 has 2x ethernet ports on it. It makes you think that you can connect 2 devices to it. But you can't. Comcast only supports 1 public IP address. so only one device can be connected.

Try powering off the sb8200 and the orbi. Give it a couple minutes. disconnect the ethernet from the sb8200. After a couple minutes power it on and let it boot up. Once fully booted, plug the orbi into port 1 and power on the orbi. Give it a few minutes to boot and run its internet setup process. See if it works.

See if NGs CM series is on the list. I know CM3000 and CM2050v are supported on the higher speed tier. If you don't need the higher speed tier, check on NGs CM1000, 1100 or 1200 series modems. These are good modems for lower speed tier.

Presume that you followed the links in this page to select the SB8200:

Does this indicate that a computer connected directly to the SB8200 got a good internet connection?

Did you attempt to Factory Reset the Orbi and set it up from scratch?
