cannot connect vpn l2tp, orbi satellite

Hi all,

I am have a problem with an orbi satellite. When connected to the satellite I cant coonnect to a vpn. When connected to wifi from the router itself the connection can be established. As given in the subject its an VPN based on L2tp. I am connected to the main network, not the quest.

What could be the reason why it wont work with the satellite?

Thanks,

Kjors

What Firmware version is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?

What is the distance between the router and satellite(s)? 30 feet or more is recommended in between RBR and RBS to begin with depending upon building materials when wirelessly connected.

Is the RBS wired or wirelessly connected to the RBR?

      Updated to the latest firmware, RBR 40 : V2.5.1.22 and RBW30 V2.5.0.4

ISP modem/router (ZTE Experia Box v10), set to bridge mode. Wired to the orbi router (RBR40). The wall plug satellite is connected wireless, about 10 meters (33ft).

        Couple of options,
        1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the Orbi router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
        2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the Orbi router gets from the modem. Then you can use the Orbi router in Router mode.
        3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the Orbi router to the modem, configure AP mode on the Orbi router. https://kb.netgear.com/31218/How-do-I-configure-my-Orbi-router-to-act-as-an-access-point and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7LOcJ8GdDo&app=desktop

I would try option #2...put the modem back in to router mode and disable ALL wifi radios on the modem...
