Infamous RBR/RBS50 Firmware Upgrade issue

I have one of those RBR/RBS 50 setup which was stuck on firmware version 1.4 something.

I followed the advice from this forum as follows:

Manual update of Satellite and then Router in this order.

  • 2.0.0.74 (Satellite)
  • 2.0.0.74 (Router)
  • 2.2.1.212 (Satellite)
  • 2.2.1.212 (Router)
  • 2.5.1.16 (Satellite)
  • 2.5.1.16 (Router)

Except that my router would not recognize version 2.5.1.16. The satellite did but not the router. :smileysad:

See below screen dump of my setup. At least, it is still working.

What should I do to move forward with the updates?

(The router indicated "update failed" for all updates but it seems to have worked)

:smileyfrustrated:

  • Hopefully TFTP method will force something on the RBR> :smileytongue:

Try 2.3.0.32 on the RBR after v212

  • When you logged into your router via a web browser you should have been told an update is available. If not don't worry about it.  Does your network work?

My router never reported that an update was available and would still be on version 1.4 if I had relied on that. :smileysad:

OK...maybe not a bad thing IF your network works.  1.4 is extreme...most in here understand my position about FW.  But it's my opinion, others will do what they choose for it's their network.  I've played the FW roulette for more years than I care to count with various software, hardware, (for some reason browser comes to mind) dating back to WIN 3.0   Most of the chasing resulted in unnecessary grief.

        Enjoy you update.:smileyhappy:
