Light stays on.
When the main unit is connected directly to hot CAT6 cable, the light on the top of the unit stays on. Function and connection to satellites appears uninterrupted. Good to goORBI!! SOlved wireless problems in a cave-houose where nothing, repeaters etc., could resolve. I wish that they sold the original unit with a selection of the number of satellites you want instead of only two. I ordered an additional one for the second floor (second satellite went to the studio apartment above the garage) and it cost slightly more than half of the original price of the whole system. :(

What is the distance between the router and satellite(s)? 30 feet is recommended in between RBR and RBS to begin with depending upon building materials when wirelessly connected. https://kb.netgear.com/000036466/How-far-should-I-place-my-Orbi-satellite-from-my-Orbi-router - CrimpOnGuru - Experienced User

This does not match how Netgear says the "Ring Light" should behave. It is supposed to disappear once the Orbi is in normal operation.

Interesting that "everything works".
