Netgear Orbi Ethernet Conncection
Hi, I have a question on how Ethernet with the Netbear Orbi works. I want to set up my netgear orbi router in one room and the satellite in a different room. If I wanted to use a Ethernet connection from the satellite orbi to my gaming console, will I only need an Ethernet cable and obviously the power source to do this? Is there anything else required? I’ve been reading about something called an Ethernet Backhaul but I’m not sure how that works. I’d prefer to use a wired connection instead of wifi to play. I know I can do it with the router but that’s not where my room is. Lastly, how efficient is an Ethernet connection compared to using the mesh system?

Yes you can use a ethernet connections from the RBR to the RBS. Ether use a CAT6 LAN cable directly between the RBR and RBS or you can use a external GB LAN switch:
Non managed, non green ethernet switches are recommended to use if you do use one.
30 feet is recommended in between RBR and RBS to begin with depending upon building materials when wirelessly connected. https://kb.netgear.com/000036466/How-far-should-I-place-my-Orbi-satellite-from-my-Orbi-router
- Mahed24AspirantDo I have to connect the RBR and RBS together using a CAT6? I can’t just straight up use a LAN cable from an Ethernet port on the RBS to a PC, console, or TV that I’m using. Do I have to do a Ethernet backhaul before doing that? Sorry if I’m not making sense.

No, if the RBS is wireleslly connected to the RBR, then you can connect a ethernet connected PC to the back of the RBS for internet access thru the RBS.
