Network setting when using Netgear M1 & LB2120 & Orbi RBK40 at the same time

I am living in a rural area which landline is not available. I had M1/M2 with Orbi RBR40 but that was not too stable as M1/M2 sometimes would be too "hot" and stop responding.

The downtime is sometimes long, to ensure my security system (Arlo cam plus doorbell) works smoothly, I bought a LB2120. Then the problem comes, the Arlo cannot work stablely if I set M1, LB2120 & Orbi in Router Mode at the same time.

Before having LB2120, I set M1 to passthrough mode as a modem, and Orbi as router. I love this setting as I can use my Orbi to set fixed IP and some advanced Router settings. However, when LB2120 comes in, this setting doesn't work anymore. LB2120 must be in Router mode in order to activate "auto failover", and Orbi must act as AP if I want to keep "one router" in my whole system. So now I have the least supported machine in my system as a Router, I don't know how they are set, and nothing like what I found in Orbi or even M1.

Is there any other settings I can do with the above, so I can use Orbi as router and the other 2 as modem? Thanks!

Does the LB unit have a DMZ feature, if so, you can you this feature for the RBR in router mode.

If you have heat problems with some units, one can put a laptop cooler under these unites to help keep the cool. I keep on under my main router 24/7. Zero heat problems.

Thanks for your suggestion. Glad that DMZ function might help to let Orbi take up the router role.

I searched from the internet and found there are security issues to the router if I use DMZ with the modem. Is Orbi able to set up a firewall to prevent this happening?

      Thanks again~

ALL Orbi RBK systems have built in Firewalls.
