New MS Edge browser unable to log into Orbi web interface

Typically I log into my router via Chrome, but recently installed the new MS Edge browser and now when I hit my router in Edge I don't get the prompt for user name password. We already know Netgear/Orbi is horrible at this part (login page/prompt/no valid SSL certificate/no changing admin user/etc.), but now this where it can't keep up with browsers security.

If you look at the attached image, you'll see when I got to my router it doesn't get a login prompt/pop-up, just unauthorized page and wants me to reset my admin password. I don't because I then just log in via iOS app or Chrome fine. In Edge, I have this site whitelisted, pop-ups allowed, etc.

Any other thoughts from people using Orbi + Edge?

  • Be sure the popup window is not appearing behind the main Edge window. I've see it were i've entered into the routers web page and not see the popup appear in front of the main window. However if you look at the bottom icon bar, you'll see two highlighted icons being displayed, one points to the main window, the other maybe the actual log in pop up. Not sure if this is a FW issue or a browser issue not displaying the pop up in front instead of in the background. I saw this using IE11. Possible same with Edge.

  • What link are you using? If orbilogin.com isn't working out, try using 192.168.1.1 , but if that doesn't work, connect to the local network, go on Orbi app, tap the Home (Top left corner) button, then settings. Tap "Router Settings", tap "Internet Port", then look for the "External IP Address". Take the address and put it into the computer that can't log in. If it doesn't work, look for the "Gateway IP Address", which is part of the "External IP Address". When you try to login, make sure it is followed by "/start.htm". This following slash is where you login, as the base address is simply a redirect to "/start.htm". The defaults are below, along with their extensions.

     Base: orbilogin.com

     Extension: orbilogin.com/start.htm

     IP Base: 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1

     IP Extension: 192.168.1.1/start.htm or 192.168.0.1/start.htm

Just a note, I don't work for NETGEAR and am not affiliated with the brand in any way.

  • Any progress on this?
