Orbi AC 3000 starting to fail - normal?

Hi, my Orbi AC 3000 was bought in 2020, and has recently started to fail or work suboptimally (not meshing well, not supplying normal broadband outputs - or at all etc). Is this normal for a product only 6 years old?

I usually tell people to simplify before calling a product bad. With the mesh systems, an unstable satellite can cause issues. Or a gateway, or the connection to the ISP.

so try it with just the router and see if it stays stable.

If it doesn't, then try it wired.

If its still not stable, then try it with just the modem.

Start back at basics and work your way forward.

The number of times we've heard that a device is unstable and it turns out to be a bad modem/gateway or even just the connection to the ISP is quite numerous.

Mine was installed in 2016 and is still working.  If you describe specific issues, there may be solutions.

Has a power off for 1 minute then back ON with the ISP modem and router and satellite(s) been performed since last update?

Be sure to restart your network in this sequence:

    Turn off and unplug modem.

    Turn off router and computers.

Plug in and turn on modem. Wait 2 minutes for it to connect.

Turn on the router and wait 2 minutes for it to connect.

Turn on computers and rest of network.

Has a factory reset and setup from scratch been performed since last FW update?

What Firmware version is currently loaded?

What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?

    How many RBS are deployed?

What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?

What is the distance between the router 📡 and satellite(s)🛰️? 30 feet or more is recommended in between RBR 📡 and RBS 🛰️ to begin with depending upon building materials when wired or wirelessly connected.

What channels are you using? Auto? Try setting manual channel 1, 6 or 11 on 2.4Ghz and 40 to 48 channel on 5Ghz.

Any Wifi Neighbors near by? If so, how many?

Thanks I have turned it off a few times, but will now try the unplugging aspect as well. I've had it working for c.6 years or so without changing anything so was trying to understand what the problem might be, since I haven't done anything different. A quick internet search said that the product might be near the end of its life.

Possible that your environment or neighboring conditions have changed thus maybe causing some new odd behaviors that were not seen before.

Yes the Orbi AC series is EoL, however doesn't mean it can't still work well for you. May just need some troubleshooting first.

NG updated the FW I believe for one last time so that available if needed.
