Orbi and switch setup.

Hello, I just have a quick question. I just set up my new network config today at home. I have fiber internet installed, so I basically just have a cat 5 cable coming into the house. I plug that into my Orbi, and then run a cable from the first port to a 16 port switch where all my ethernet cables from around the house come to. I also have a sattelite Orbi on the opposite end of the house, next to a couple of PCs. I haven't been able to get anything hard wired into the switch to go online, but the wifi is working fine. Is there something I'm missing?

TL;DR: Current setup: Internet line > Orbi > Switch > different devices in the house. Do I need to change anything or setup anything differently to get the lines to work?

Any and all responses are welcome, thank you in advance!

  • I have almost this same setup. Did you ever get it up and running. If not try to unplug the switch from power and ethernet from Orbi. If you just switched routers and never power cycled the switch all your hard wired devices think they are still on the old network. Replug in the power and ethernet from Orbi. And you should be go to go.

I did get it working! I basically did exactly what you mentioned. I unplugged everything and turned the WiFi off on all of my devices. I then booted up the Orbi and then the satellite. Then I connected to the Orbi with a computer and finished the network setup. I then booted up the switch, and turned on the wireless devices one at a time and everything is now working!

Thank you for the response, I appreciate it :)
