Orbi RB53 setup

I bought the Orbi Router + 2 satellite system.  I have a DSL modem that I have connected to the Orbi router and one of the satellites.  Question: for the satellite that I connected directly to the DSL modem, it is not flashing blue so I can't tell if it is just acting as a router or if it is broadcasting a wi-fi signal.  When I login to the Orbi website, it only shows the one satellite that is completely wireless.

Thanks for any guidance!

Jeff

  • You need to connect all satellites to the Orbi router, not the ISP modem.

    Modem Combo Units:
    Couple of options,
    1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge mode. Then use the Orbi router in router mode.
    2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ for the IP address the Orbi router gets from the modem. Then you can use the Orbi router in Router mode.
    3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the Orbi router to the modem, LAN to LAN and configure AP mode on the Orbi router.

Thanks- the satellite seems to be working as a router as it is and provides Internet to the cat7 connected tv. Are you saying that it is not broadcasting a WiFi signal and that to do so I have to connect it to the router?
  • If your modem is working as a router then the satellite can't communicate well with the Orb router...
