ORBI RBR20 covd lock up disaster. I've got this aweful piece of gear and no support $$ for help.

ORBI RBR 20 mesh network.  Also have nighthawk  R7000.

Am on day 25 of isolation and the orbi network has been an absolute disaster to get going.  Unfortuntately i cant get anyone in to sort it or buy anything to replace it right now as the whole country is in lockdown.

]I'm getting the 404 and 401 errors to the point it's really effecting productivity.

Also need to install some more sonos speakers (have some set up already).

If someone has expertise and can help get this sorted, am happy to pay for your time.  I'm techy enough to follow instructions.  but not to hold the details of how this **bleep** works.  and have no ambition to become an expert.

great concept but not worth the aggravation in my opinion.  if you can help please let me know.

  • Start at the basics.

    1. What modem are you using?

    2. What firmware is on your orbi?

    3. You put you have the orbi and the R7000. Are you using them at the same time? If so is one of them running in AP mode (access point).

    4. What firmware is on the R7000?

Hi - I'm looking for someone who can get on a call and work through things with me.
Hve been down this road trying to sort by text with no joy.

I have fibre coming into an old modem, it then was goin to the nighthawk.  worked perfectly but didnt have the range.
Have tried to run orbi and nighthawk together and seperatley with no joy.

This is the community forum. We're not netgear. We're members of the public trying to help out.

Start by listing the items I asked for and we can probably help get you up and running.

  • This would be a double NAT condition which isn't recommended. https://kb.netgear.com/30186/What-is-Double-NAT

    Couple of options,
    1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the Orbi router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
    2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the Orbi router gets from the modem. Then you can use the Orbi router in Router mode.
    3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the Orbi router to the modem, configure AP mode on the Orbi router. https://kb.netgear.com/31218/How-do-I-configure-my-Orbi-router-to-act-as-an-access-point and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7LOcJ8GdDo&app=desktop

You might want to try option #3...if your using the R7000 has your main router.

ALso let us know the mfr and model# of the ISP modem as well...
