Orbi RBR20 download speed half of upload
I have a 1 gbps up/down connection vis century link and my orbi is setup in AP mode behind the century link modem.
I get 1 gb up and down via the wired connection from my orbi to a Mac Pro desktop. However when doing the speed test via the orbi app, I get 500 mbps down and 1 gbps up.
This speed ratio holds true with any device connected to wifi. On a 5ghz device near the orbi my upload speed will be approx 600 mbps while I only get 250 mbps down.
Is there any reason the orbi would be throttling WiFi download speeds? It seems odd that the internal speed test reads 500 down and 1 gig up while my Mac Pro connected via Ethernet to the orbi is 1 gig up and down.
Firmware 2.2.1.210

Wireless speeds will max out at around 500Mb depending upon client HW support and design. IF your getting wired speeds to spec, then the Orbi is working well. Always test wired speeds first.
- GfioritaTutorYes I’m aware that wireless speeds top out at 500 mbps. My issue is I get UPLOAD speeds of 500 but download is half that, 250 mbps or less.
I also tested wired speeds and they are equal up and down via wired connection. Please re read my post and advise if you have any thoughts on what is causing.
Thanks! What devices are you using for wireless testing?
What channels are you using? Auto? Try setting manual channel 1, 6 or 11 on 2.4Ghz and any unused channel on 5Ghz.
Any Wifi Neighbors near by? If so, how many?Try disabling the following and see:
MIMO, Daisy Chain, Fast Roaming, IPv6 and Set 20/40Mhz Coexistence to 40Mhz only. Save settings and reboot the router and satellite(s).
