Orbi RBR50 dropping wifi connection constantly with 2.2.1.210

Purchased ORBI RBR50 at end of September. Installed and was happy with the performance until the internet started dropping. Between travel and other activities, I was not able to start troubleshooting until now. I see many many posts on the community board about this issue, but not many solutions besides taking the Orbi back. Please help...

My info:

Orbi RBR50 with firmware v. 2.2.1.210 (Orbilogin says both router and satellite have latest firmware updates.)

Spectrum internet (used to be Charter) with modem Cisco DPC3008

Wireless backhaul

Home is 2500sq.ft. on two floors

About 50ft between router and satellite with mostly open floorplan (two interior walls on direct line between them)

Channels: was using Auto, but just switched to 1 on 2.4GHz; 5GHz on 48

I can see five other wifi signals from neighbors on my computer

    1. When you say "internet dropping", do you mean that the devices will still have wifi connection but will have no internet access? Or will the device loose wifi?
    2. What type of wired devices do you have connected to Orbi?

      Hi ekhalil--

Thanks for your response. I could have been more precise in my description.

Indeed, the cable modem appears to be working fine (judging by the lights on the front), but the connection to it goes down. That includes all devices, including devices directly wired to the Orbi or its satellite. Wired devices include iMac (to the Orbi router), as well as Xbox to the satellite.

In my experience, restarting the Orbi is not enough - I have to restart the modem as well to regain access for all my devices.

        What FW is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the ISP modem the NG router is connected too?
Is the Orbi system operating in Router or AP mode?

What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?
What is the distance between the router and satellite(s)? 30 feet is recommended in between them to begin with depending upon building materials.

What channels are you using? Auto? Try setting manual channel 1, 6 or 11 on 2.4Ghz and any unused channel on 5Ghz.
Any Wifi Neighbors near by? If so, how many?
