ORBI RBR50 Slow wifi speed over Wifi

Hi Guys-

I bought this router on Dec 23rd 2019 and since that day, i have called in netgear like 20 time as they have horrible cuistomer support. I consistantly,am having low speed on my wifi. I have 500/500 MBps by Frontier. I am on latest firmware. I troubleshoot with netgear support for hours. that couldnt resolve the problem. Then Netgear issued me an RMA (Replecment) on Jan 23rd 2020. Even on that replacment i am having same slow wifi speed issues. Today, 02/04/2020. they issued me a  new RMA and i will recieve that router on 12th

I am soo fustrated with this Netgear Product. I am nnot sure if the routers that i am recieving are consistanly bad or its my house. I am literly at the verge of throwing this router and going to buy google one (if netgear gives me a refund).

Things that we have tried

  • I live in 1600 sqft home. one satalite and router.
  • We tried changing channels,
  • Reset routers,
  • Reboot them multiple time.
  • Netgear Level 2 technician tried to trouble shoot. Same problems.
  • We tried to uplaoad differnet firmwares.
  • I am on new firmware right now

Any help will be much approcciated.

What is the Mfr and model# of the ISP modem the NG router is connected too?
Is the Orbi system operating in Router or AP mode?

What is the distance between the router and satellite(s)? 30 feet is recommended in between RBR and RBS to begin with depending upon building materials when wirelessly connected. https://kb.netgear.com/000036466/How-far-should-I-place-my-Orbi-satellite-from-my-Orbi-router

Try setting manual channel 1, 6 or 11 on 2.4Ghz and any unused channel on 5Ghz.
Any Wifi Neighbors near by? If so, how many?

Try enabling Beamforming and MIMO(MIMO may or maynot be needed) and WMM. Under Advanced Tab/Advanced Settings/Wireless Settings

Try disabling the following and see:
Armor, Circle, Daisy Chain, Fast Roaming, IPv6 and Set 20/40Mhz Coexistence to 40Mhz only. Save settings and reboot the router and satellite(s).

Well I applied the settings you suggested and right after applied those i touched to almost 350 mbps but later since morning i am back to low speed.

As a comparison I am attaching 2 side by side speed tests. one is Lan and other is over wifi.

I applied all the settings as told.

Have you tried using a wifi scanning program to do a site survey of the wifi channels in use at your location? It could be that your neighbors are using the same channels you are using causing interference and thus low speeds.
