Daisy Chain

The new firmware enable daisy chain, satelite to satelite. But will it supports above topology?

  • There is no way to control the topology, the devices decide for themselves what to route through. With the current firmware it makes some strange choices. Mine initially, with two satellites, correctly routes the furthest one through the one closest to the router, but after a few minutes it reverts to star topology, even though one of the satellites is too far away from the router to get a 5GHz backhaul. Netgear support have told me there is a beta firmware that might help, I'm hoping it allows manual routing selection.

  • I either do not understand or I am mislead. I need to daisy chain a RBS50 to another RBS50 which is connected to the RBR50. Unfortunatly I can not place the RBR50 in the centre of the house, it is connected to the internet at one end of the house, I have connected one RBS50 on the ground floor, all good. In order to provide internet upstairs at the far end of the house the closest point is the RBS50, the RBR50 is too faraway altough it might as the previous writer explains it is jumping in and out of Daisy Chaining. The help line states "with the latest firmware Orbi now supports daisy chain" I have just checked the latest firmware and I have the latest but do not have the Daisy Chain option in the settings.

    Suggestions please

The Enable Daisy-Chain Topology setting is in Advanced Setup -> Wireless Settings on the Advanced tab in firmware version 2.0.0.74. I think it is selected by default after updating from the previous version. If it isn't daisy chaining after the update, contact Netgear support. You might have to  ask for your call to be escalated to an L2 support expert, when I had problems, the first guy didn't have a clue, their call scripts hadn't been updated to include the new feature.
