Port forwarding now working

Hi everybody,

I have the Orbi RBR50 running firmware V2.5.1.8 trying to forward a port.

My routers LAN address is 192.168.1.1 and the WAN address is 192.168.0.100.

The modem is set route mode and I am able to connect to the remote management page of the router.

The devices I'm trying to forward a port to are either a ip-camera or a webserver, both with a static ip, both not working.

If tried already forwarding different ports, internally and externally, showing no results.

If I connect to 192.168.0.100 I get connected with the right service (so either ip-camera or webserver) but nothing I seem to do effects my connection from the outside.

I've tried disabling Upnp, set NAT-filtering to open.

I would really appreciate, if somebody would be able to help because I'm pretty much stuck :)

Thank you very much in advanced

Probably due to your modem having a router built in already. This would be a double NAT (two router) condition which isn't recommended and would cause port forwarding to not work right on the Orbi router. https://kb.netgear.com/30186/What-is-Double-NAT

    Couple of options,
    1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the Orbi router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
    2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the Orbi router gets from the modem. Then you can use the Orbi router in Router mode.
    3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the Orbi router to the modem, configure AP mode on the Orbi router. https://kb.netgear.com/31218/How-do-I-configure-my-Orbi-router-to-act-as-an-access-point and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7LOcJ8GdDo&app=desktop

Thank you very much for your reply!!!

I figured out, that there was a specific WAN port in the modem I had to connect the router to

This is the problem.  The Orbi is connected to a router.  That router will block all incomming connection attempts.

Netgear describes this as a Double NAT: https://kb.netgear.com/30186/What-is-Double-NAT

Nothing done on the Orbi will fix this.  There are basically two alternatives:

    • Place the Orbi in Access Point (AP) mode and learn how to configure port forwarding on the ISP router, or
    • Place the ISP router into "bridge" mode (sometimes called "passthrough" mode).

I would start with a call to the ISP tech support and tell them, "Please put my router into bridge mode (and disable WiFi while you are at it).
