Question about memory difference between RBS50 or RBS50Y
I am looking for another satellite to use as an extender for coverage in my backyard. Since I have a screened in porch and weather isn’t a factor, I am undecided between the outdoor RBS50Y and another indoor RBS50. The only differences I’m finding are the number of antennas (6 vs 4) and the memory (Outdoor RBS50Y is 256 MB NAND flash + 512 MB RAM) and the (Indoor RBS50 is 4 GB flash + 512 MB RAM). I don’t really know what the memory is used for in this system so I don’t know what impact it will have for me.
I want to use it to use for streaming movies outside and then the normal cell phones and social media.

Mostly nemory is used for FW operations and logging when logging is enabled. Memory will not be the same between the RBR and RBS.
The RBSY should work well if configured and placed in a good distance from the RBR. 30 feet or more is recommended.
Daisy Chain may used or disabled. I would disable Daisy Chain first.

The RBS50Y uses the same 5G radio and antenna for both user devices and backhaul. So, in theory, the RBS50 would have more capacity than the RBS50Y. Whether anyone would detect a difference in performance is unknown.
The difference in flash memory is probably meaningless. The original "50" series WiFi units had 4GB flash memory. The newer "version2" units (both router and satellite) have only 512MB (1/8 the memory). My conclusion is that Netgear discovered that including more flash memory was not necessary and reduced it from 4GB to 512MB.
The bigger issue (in my opinion) is "what can you actually purchase?" I have been actively seeking an RBS50 satellite and not finding any.
