RBK50 connecting to Vdsl2
I'm having a few issues with a recently installed RBK50 and how best to connect to the internet. Currently I'm using an old Netgear Nighthawk D7000v2 as a router (with the Wi-Fi switched off) and connection to my vdsl line (Uk) with Vodafone as the ISP. Are there better routers that would provide a more stable connection?
I'm far from a networking expert but would appreciate any guidance/suggestions that might help.
My download speeds are varying between 15Mbps to 73Mbps.

My download speeds are varying between 15Mbps to 73Mbps.IMHO...you aready have a 'better' router with the Orbi. The idea of running 2 routers and then add a Vodafone (?) only complicates the matter.
What firmware is your orbi running?
Hi
i'm running version 2.7.2.104
I wondered if using both routers was the issue. As I said I'm a novice here, and tried using the Nighthawk D7000v2 as a broadband modem only to feed into the Orbi, but couldn't get the internet to connect.

Running 2 routers can be an issue if not configured correctly as stated by my friend FURRYe38.
The firmware you have also has reported problems which you may want to consider rolling back. When did you notice your problems?

Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the Orbi router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the Orbi router gets from the modem. Then you can use the Orbi router in Router mode.
3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the Orbi router to the modem, configure AP mode on the Orbi router. https://kb.netgear.com/31218/How-do-I-configure-my-Orbi-router-to-act-as-an-access-point and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7LOcJ8GdDo&app=desktopTry option #1 as you can bridge the D series modem into modem only mode...
