Rbk50 speed issues

Hi there

On last black friday, bought RBK50 in this great deal.
It has arrived, but LAN speedtest (and I believe it affect wireless for both Router and Satellite) are not Ok.

I use to get arround 940Mb with simple Asus router.
With Orbi router get arround 600Mb in LAN in the router..
Wifi near Router is arround 500-600Mb (not making any sense).
Router Mode.

Get a DHCP in WAN directly from ISP to orbi router, so no middle box to nlame here.

Latest FW V2.2.1.210

Any ideas?
Almost got a heart attack after buying this expnlensive Mesh.

Thank you

    What FW is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the ISP modem the NG router is connected too?

Do a factory reset with the base router. Wire connect a PC to the router and setup from scratch. Do not enable QoS, Traffic Meter and Access controls.

What are the wired speeds tests results with a PC.

      FW version is 2.2.1.210.
I got Fiber 1G FTTH , with SFP to Rj45 converter and cat6 cable directly to NG.

Netgear support suggested downgrade version to 2.1.4.16.

Is there a known issue with current one that needs to be downgrade?

Didnt have the chance to just factory default both units.

      Thanks

Some have said the v210 doesnt' work well with 1Gb speeds...

If you downgrade, please manually install the FW file to the Router only. You don't have to downgrade the satellites. Do a factory reset on the router and setup from scratch and do a wired speed test with a PC.

  • I think this is a technical limitation of the Orbi over wifi. It's not designed for maximum speed to a single device. It's designed to give good speed to multiple devices, even when spread over a large area and connected to the remote satellite, rather than directly to the router.

According to Tom's, ~550 mbps is peak 802.11ac performance for the Orbi at 5 feet (~1.5m).

      550M wireless is fine.
The issue is WIRED- using CAT7 on RBR.
      600 tops over CAT7.

The RBR gives great WIFI, RBS is getting 150Mb wireless, odd as well.
I took my unit to other place with 1G over FTTH same issue.
900MB wired is fine for me, and 550Mb wireless is terrific for me (all house).

Ya 550Mb is around the max for wifi. Thats good though

So you took the RBR to the friends place and it's still not seeing 900Mb there? If so, then your RBR needs to be reviewed by NG support. I would ask about an RMA. Tell them of your friends system and that you tested yours out on his ISP and let them know of the result differences.
