RBR40 Blinking White Light
At about 3pm today I started experiencing connection issues on some devices, so AI decided to reboot the RBR40.
It will not reconnect to my Verizon modem . It remains in a pulsating white light. I have tried power cycling the Verizon modem and the RBR40, but no success. I have unplugged all the satellites and AI am focusing on justing getting the RBR40 connected.
I confirmed that the Verizon modem works by connecting directly to it with another device. The current firmware version is V2.7.5.6 which is one version before the recent release of V2.7.6.6 in January 2026.
I am looking for next steps in troubleshooting. I can see the router in the Orbi app, but I cannot connect directly to it (e.g., to update firmware). Oddly, it does show the devices connected to the router, but the router is not connected to the Internet.
I assume the next steps is to update the firmware before doing a factory reset. Can the update be done via web, or just download the firmware to a laptop and connect via Ethernet cable?
Is it straightforward or so I need to be able to manipulate things that maybe a work laptop would not allow?
Any other ideas? Is there anything else I can provide to help?

The firmware release should not cause this problem. There should be no harm in updating the firmware, but I am not confident that would solve whatever has gone wrong.
If you want to update the firmware, download the router and satellite files from the Netgear support site to the laptop
https://kb.netgear.com/000070458/
- Extract the *.img files from the router and satellite download.
- Connect the laptop web browser to each satellite using the satellite IP address.
- Use the Firmware Update menu item to update firmware on all satellites.
- Finally, connect to the router and manually update the router firmware.
It would be a good idea to make sure you have a backup of the configuration before starting any updates.
Also would not hurt to make two checks:
- Does the cable between router and modem appear solidly connected?
- If you connect to the router web interface using the laptop what does it show about the WAN connection?
