RBR40 download speed half after 2.5.1.22 firmware update

Hi,

I have Spectrum internet. My speeds were consistently 280 MB/s download. I upgraded to the 400 MB/s pkg and was only able to receive that speed when I first enabled the service yesterday morning but later in the afternoon speed tests dropped to 190 MB/s and were variable since. I had my gateway changed and replaced with a newer model. Problem is still there. Upload speed is consistently 18-22 MB/s. My orbi test shows 478 MB/s for speed but fast.com and speedtest.net are consistent at 190-220 MB/s. I noticed my system auto updated to firmware 2.5.1.22. what triggered the change in service was my hard wired security base kept on going offline and the provider suggested I upgrade my upload to > 15 MB/s. I’m not sure why the discrepancies exist when the upgrade was working. Thoughts?

  • What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?

Has a power OFF of the ISP Modem, RBR and RBS for 30 seconds since last FW update been performed?
Has a factory reset and setup from scratch been performed since last FW update?

      Hi,
The latest modem is made by Hitron Model EN2251. I just got a newer model to rule out former modem issues but the bandwidth constraint is still there. Power off was done as well and still the same. I have not run a factory reset and setup from scratch since FW update.

I would try a full reset of the orbi system. Power OFF the modem for 30 seconds as well when you do this. Walk thru the setup wizard.

Check the speed with two different wired PCs.
