Hello, I have contacted netgear and they could not figure out why I can not get download speeds that I should be getting so they replaced router but Iam still having issues and have done all basic troubleshooting and reset and also had my isp provider send a tech out and test all connections and speeds coming in and it all tested good and should be getting 300 down and 300 up and I have disconnected everything and did speed test one by one to see if their was something boggin down my speeds but I get around 290 down and same up coming into router but coming out of router is 80 down and 295 up and can not figure out why it is not sending out better download speeds and right now it takes about 2 minutes to load facebook and longer for pics which can not understand and this is on all the connected devices same issue even with the 80 down speeds, so dont want to spend money on their support because last guy treated me like I was lieing and stupid and could barely understand, so plz help if possible because I am at point to go buy another brand and different router and this is suppose to be the best but I can get 1gb service but dont want to upgrade when I cant even get the 300 down but can get it up and it is suppose to be you get more down and less up and it aint like that..PLZ HELP

  • It might help if you told people what the modem is in front of this router. The model number could be useful. Is it, by any chance, also a router, with a set of LAN ports on the back?

The reason for asking is that a lot of people turn up here trying to put a router behind a modem that is also a router.

Having two routers on a network can cause headaches. For example, you can end up with local address problems. Among other things, the other router can misdirect addresses that the Netgear router usually handles, such as routerlogin.net or the usual IP address for a router, 192.168.1.1.

This explains some of the other drawbacks.

Are your speed testing via wired or wireless?

It is router mode, I have no modem it is a data jack with service being fiber also, test speeds both wireless n wired and have the latest firmware v2.3.5.30, but speed test show ok around 100 down and 290 up but it takes forever to load pages and wont load Facebook pics or very little of the page so don’t understand how speed test show I should b ok but actual results prove different, I have been thru everything and cant see what is wrong or what to do.

Can you tell us if the ORbi is getting a 192.168.#.### or maybe a 10.something IP address on the WAN port? If not, it maybe a ##.##.###.### address...

Please check the statistics page on the Orbi. Ensure the WAN an LAN ports are reading 1000Mbps for connection rates.

Do all devices or PCs exhibit this slow in internet speeds?

Has a factory reset been performed  and setup from scratch using the setup wizard since the FW update?
