RBR50v2 --> RBR96 (AP Mode) Same SSID

Hello all and thanks in advance for taking the time to read my post. I have searched a few other posts that have slightly similiar issues as mine, but with a few variables and not the same solution. Any insight or advice is greatly appreciated.

I'm at a client's house who has his network layout as such:

ISP (Spectrum) modem > Orbi RBR50v2 > ethernet (CAT6E) connection to backhouse > RBR96

The SSID for the router in the main house is Stark Residence and the AP in the backhouse is set to Stark Residence Villa.

The "roaming" from the main house to the backhouse isn't the most seamless handoff, but it works without having to manually switch from one SSID to the other so that is fine.

There isn't any real issue with speed / coverage, however, my question is - is it possible to have only one SSID between the two devices? The main focus or need here is SONOS. The client has SONOS in his main house and backyard + the backhouse. Since some devices are on one SSID and backhouse on another SSID, we aren't able to join the zones together.

Is it possible to have one SSID and ensure the roaming between router and AP are good while also joining SONOS devices to one network?

    Enlighten us what this "RBR96" is (device type[s]?), and how these devices are configured.

      As I understand it, the client purchased an Orbi kit (router + two sattelites) for inside the home. At a later date, he acquired another Orbi unit (model # on back says RBR96)

      Originally, the RBR96 was in router mode and hardwired back to RBR50 in the main house. There were issues as one router was plugged into another router and broadcasting two networks.

      I configured the RBR86 into AP mode.

      The only setting I changed on the RBR50 was set the DNS to 8.8.8.8 & 8.8.4.4

        With the second Orbi in AP mode, all of the Sonos devices will get IP's in the same subnet.  Placing Sonos units into groups is a question for Sonos. (I understand they are 'touchy' or was it 'tempermental'?)

        But, yes, there is no reason both Orbi units cannot have exactly the same WiFi SSID/password.  They will not magically become one unified network, but there is no harm in doing so.

      For clarity - I confused the default SSID with the model number. The device in the backhouse is a RBR50 and that router has been placed into AP mode.
