AirCard 785S without battery

Hello!

I have a problem with turning on AC 785S without battery, only on AC power supply. I found similar topic where someone confirmed that it is working, but not in my device.

https://community.netgear.com/t5/Mobile-Routers-Hotspots-Modems/Can-I-use-AirCard-without-its-battery/td-p/1232416

When I connect USB plug to the router, NETGEAR logo shows up for a few seconds and then it turns of, it repeats on and on. How could I boot the device in this way?

FW Version: NTG9X25A_02.14.04.13

Bootloader Version: NTG9X25A_02.14.04.13

Hardware Version: 1.0

Thank you!

Maciek

    Hi ordos18,

I recommend using a power adapter which is 5V 2A minimum.  The supplied power adapter will not keep the device running without battery.

    Kind Regards,

ArodiD, thank you for your tip. I did try with 2,4A power supply, but with the same result. Maybe there is some current limiting because of USB autocoding, I will check it on another charger.

However, if 1A charger is sufficient for charging battery and running the network, it should work as well without charging the battery. Do you think that router needs more power during booting?

      Thank you,

      Maciek

Still no success on other chargers. While running and charging a battery it takes 1A even when charger can supply more, so I don't think that it needs more current.

ArodiD, do you have any idea?

        Thanks,

        Maciej
