How to run the M1 on mains power or battery back up without overheating the battery

Hello everyone,,

I've just got the M1 to use for some Arlo cameras in my Winnabago. Unfortunately I cannot get the router to accept a charge while it's switch on as it keeps saying the battery tempurature is too hot. It's in a cool spot and doesn't really feel warm to touch, but just won't charge.

Anyway to run this from an external battery or mains power without drawing power from the battery?

I seems like it should draw power from the usb instead of the battery when it's fully charged, but even that doesn't work as as soon as it decides it's too hot, it stupidly uses up the battery power even though it should draw power from the USB.

  • With latest firmware, M1 would detect temperature of the battery and stop charging if it goes beyond temperature threshold. What you can do is to remove the battery, power up M1 via Type-C port, you can take another external battery charger to supply required power for M1, and AC power can be plugged to this external battery charger.
