Is my mobile hotspot trash now?

I have a NETGEAR Zing™ Mobile Hotspot which my renter was using for the past year. A month ago, she said that the device couldn’t read the battery. She brought it to a Sprint store and they recommended that she purchase a new battery. She did, but it didn’t work. The device couldn’t read the new battery either, so she returned it.

I recently got the device back from her and noticed that the old battery is swollen. The lid won’t snap on when the battery is inserted. I held the battery in place and plugged it in to charge to see if it would turn on. It tried to start up but wouldn’t complete the process. Can this device be saved? Or should I just trash it?

Hi! I’m not sure which category of support to choose. The device is over a year old.
