Live Stream RTMP from GoPro using Netgear Nighthawk M5
Equipment:
GoPro 9
Samsung Galaxy S21+
Netgear Nighthawk M5 Hotspot
I am trying to get my GoPro to connect to the Nighthawk to live stream an event. Every time I try to connect, the GoPro Quik app tells me "We couldn't connect your camera to this network". If I try to connect the GoPro to my phone's hotspot or to my home WIFI, it works fine, but I need it to connect to the Nighthawk for live streaming. Other devices (phone, computer) connect to the Nighthawk just fine.
I found a German article that seems to indicate that RTMP is not allowed with an M2. Could this be the same with the M5?
If so, is there any way to bypass this? This was an expensive purchase to have it not work.
After a lot of digging and testing, calling tech support lines, I found that the problem was actually on the T-Mobile side. For whatever reason, although they could not confirm this, they are blocking the RTMP stream. I ended up switching to AT&T and everything connected exactly as expected.
Side note: It's odd that T-Mobile was blocking the RTMP stream from the hotspot, but they do not block it from my phone's hotspot.

While many questions about routers are generic and could be answered anywhere, some things need specialist knowledge. The MR5100 is a mobile router.
You might get more help, and find earlier questions and answers specific to your device, in the appropriate section for your hardware. That's probably here:
Mobile Routers, Hotspots & Modems
Those things are very different from the standard Netgear routers covered in this section.
You might like to search there for messages related to your problem.
I will ask the Netgear moderator to move your message.
In the meantime you could visit the support pages:
Support | NETGEAR
Feed in your model number and check the documentation for your hardware.
Check for various troubleshooting tips.
You may have done this already. I can't tell from your message.
I mention it because Netgear stopped supplying printed manuals and CD versions some years ago and people sometimes miss the downloads.- marksburyAspirant
