LM1200 frequently loses WAN connection

I have an LM1200 between my broadband internet connection and Netgear Orbi. I intended to use the LM1200 as a 4G fallback for my internet.

However, it looks like the LM1200 frequently drops the WAN connection (it appears that the WAN is working still but LM1200 stops giving access to it).

Once the LM1200 drops the WAN line, the 4g does not cut over and teh Orbi gets no internet.

The result is that I have a working WAN that my Orbi can't connect to.

If i disconnect teh WAN cable, the 4g will cut in.

I know the WAN is working because I can connect it to a computer or directly to the Orbi and it works fine.

 

The result is that my LM1200 can't be trusted for more than a couple of hours. I am constntly touching it to fix this issue.

 

I have set the LM1200 to ping every 10 minutes and this does not help. This looks like a firmware issue to me.

 

The work-around is that I can simply disconnect the WAN, waiit for 4g cutover,  and reconnect it and things seem to reset.

    Could you please advise the FW version on your LM1200?

     

    What is your home network service provider?

      LM1200 firmware version is:
      Firmware Version: EC25EUGAR07A01M4G App Version: NTG9X07W_20.06.09.00 Web App Version: LM1200-HDATA_03.03.103.201 Hardware Version: 1.0
      Netgear Orbi firmware is: V2.7.3.22
       
      ISP is Vodafone but I am connecting directly to the NBN modem. This works fine when the Orbi is connected to teh NBN modem.

        Thanks for the confirmation. LM1200 doesn't work well with certain modems. We have customers reported the similar issues with cable modems that LM1200 can't detect the data connection on the cable modem and set up the data connection properly. We will investigate it

         

        When you say Orbi can connect to the NBN modem, do you need to make certain configurations on Orbi app or Orbi GUI?

         

        To do a quick test, you can set up the devices in the following way and see whether LM1200 WAN connection can stay stably.

         

        NBN Cable Modem -> Orbi LAN Port -> LM1200 WAN Port -> LM1200 LAN port -> Your laptop.
