M5 Nighthawk MR5200 Problem Acces Intern

Hello,

I am reaching out for assistance with my Netgear Nighthawk M5 router. I have a 5G Surf Unlimited subscription with Salt (Switzerland), and the SIM card works perfectly when used in my mobile phone (iphone), including when I use my phone as a hotspot.

However, when I insert the same SIM card into the Nighthawk M5 (MR5200), the device shows a strong 5G signal with full bars, but i can't acces web pages / internet.

Pages are not loading (one time i succeed by manually changing DNS to 1.1.1.1 and others stuff, but it was super slow, now i reset and nothing work...).

I would like to know if there are specific settings I need to adjust, such as DNS configurations or other network settings ?. I had the confirmation from Salt that they don't block / restrict acces to internt, so the problem comes from the M5 setting.

I think the problem is coming from the APN settings. I wrote "internet" as suggested. Again it's connected but it seems to have no communication with the "internet".

I spent days on it... you are my last hope.

Thanks in advance

Pepito

    Hello ChePepito

Does this MR5200 carry an SKU (on the label under the battery, or on the retail package label) a MR5200-100EUS ?

Please extract the model.jsonf file with the SIM card inserted:

    • Logon to the webui (http://192.168.1.1 ) as an administrator
    • Navigate to URL http://192.168.1.1/model.json via the same browser window
    • Capture the results (by selecting all + copy) and send it back

Send PM with the file content to JohnPeng and mention your community ID.

    Regards,

    -Kurt.

  • Hi,

    Thanks for you answer schumaku

Indeed it's written SKU: MR5200-100EUS --> what does it means ?

this is the .json file in attached (It's kind of logs ? i was looking for that but i don't understand that much... anw thanks) .

Meanwhile, i succeed 1 time to open a web page ! (and i put APN to: "chili", ive found online another APN for salt they said) but after it didn't work anymore...

I looked at the statue of signal, it seems that all the time it "changes" frequency (pass from band: LTE B1 to B3), and when it is on B3 it seems-sometimes- it works. Can it be related to the stability of the frequency that doesn't work ? and my M5 try always to change dynamically ? (and i can't fix it's reception frequency).

Idk, i try everything now... thanks for your helped man.

  • Hi,

Still no answers and don't find any solutions... May i do update firmware manually ? On the website of netgear for the M5, it seems we only can make it from the app...

I don't know what can I do with this M5... Does it exist some other "backdoor" menues / setting maybe to change directly from terminal ?
