MR1100 new firmware

I recently received an email from Netgear informing me to update firmware to version 12.06.08.00 ; however, the MR1100 says that version 12.05.05.12 is current and up to date. No option to download new version. Any solutions?

  • Mine actually just now auto restarted and updated to 12.05.05.12 and when double checking in the device gui to see if there are any newer versions, it confirms this one is too with a build date of 2019/11/26. I am also quite confused.

Mine shows 12.05.05.12 11/26/19 build date as well I’m sure it’s a newer firmware because before w/ AC charger plugged in w/o battery restarting mobile router would power it off. This new firmware w/o battery I can restart router stays on.

I just received a forced updated on my m1 (on AT&T), with no battery in it, and it goes into this state of rapidly flashing blinking amber light. Restarting it says it's updating and not to restart, yet it stalls with no screen display. I'm hoping the update didn't fry my mobile hotspot.

Edit: Update: Had to basically restart it a bunch of times until it chugged through the update. Now it seems to work.

I just randomly clicked Check For Firmware Update as I usually do and to my surprise, there's an update being downloaded.

The question remains: What does this long-awaited update actually bring? The 'release notes' on specify two fixes, but I can't believe that this update which took so long to arrive only has two fixes.

      Bug Fixes:

      • Resolved the issue where the device may reboot when using the device without a battery
      • Resolved the issue where the Ethernet standby timer setting is not displayed.

Is that all that this update includes???

  • I recieved a forced update to my Mr1100 5 days ago. Firmware Ver# 12.05.05.12 with a build date of 11.26.19. Now my MR1100 will shut off after only on for a short time. The button on top does nothing. I have to remove battery and unplug power for it to work again, but it shuts off anywhere between 5-20 min on. Sometimes I also have to do a factory reset to get it to work for a while. I have tried with and without battery and it is the same.I can not manually update firmware  as it says it is up to date and there is no upload button to upload new firmeware. It is also changing type of radio band it is using LTE-B30, LTE-B2, LTE-B12 never the same and changes all the time. I believe the new update Ver. is 12.06.08.00. I have used the MR1100 for 11 months with no problems but now it is useless. Is there any way to get the new fireware installed on this device? Windows 10, MR1100-1A1NAS_04.01.70.06, Firmware Ver# 12.05.05.12 with a build date of 11.26.19. Please help as this is our only source for internet in our urual area. This forced update has basically made my MR1100 useless.

  • Just spoke with support about this. They said that the firmware pushes are controlled by the ISP's providing service to the modems and they are relying on them to push the newest versions. In my case, they have some agreement with AT&T that they will push the latest firmware. The rep confirmed the latest version for the MR1100 is "12.06.08.00".

My biggest concerns are around the Security Advisory they issued for all versions lower than 12.06.08.00 having a vulnerability they fixed in that version. Currently my device is vulnerable and I have no way of mitigating that until AT&T pushes the firmware. It's frustrating because I can download it right now from the support site but, unlike every other device I've owned, I can't manually push the update because that feature has been removed.

Here is a link the to security advisory. It's medium severity, but still concerning.

Thanks for the reply. Just like with every update we are getting for windows and other software and devices they are not fully making sure it is working properly before releasing. Which means we are at there mercy. So what to do now is the question.
