MR1100 STILL does not store APN
Hi,
some time ago, Ralph shared some interresting details about a problem he encountered using a MR-1100 router.
The problem was, that the unit does not store custom APN profiles.
The thread is marked as solved and therefore closed: MR1100 does not store APN.
However - i consider this problem nowhere near solved. I also have issues with a multi-SIM contract in Austria, but, i cannot easily exchange SIM cards with my provider, because i will get the SAME type of SIM as replacement. And: replacing the SIM by the end-user due to an incompatible or not 100% standardized-SIM is not really a solution.
To keep it short: I can enter a custom APN, it connects and all is fine. However, between reboots this custom APN is not beeing stored. My guess is: it does get stored. However at boot-time the APN list gets read out from the SIM. There it encounters an error and overwrites the APN list with "EMPTY LIST". - requiring me to input the APN again. Also using APNs not stored on the SIM could be problematic under these circumstances.
Other mobile hotspot-routers like ZTE and HUAWEI work just fine with my SIM cards. So does AC810 from NETGEAR. They just keep my custom entered APN in memory in a permanent manner.
Please NETGEAR - have a look again into this issue.
Thanks and best regards from Austria,
Fabian

After some more extensive testing with the M1 from a fried, i can confirm:
- Nighthawk M1 stores an APN-List PER SIM CARD and it stays PERSISTENT, and it displays it BESIDE THE APNs STORED ON THE SIM. EXCEPT for:
- the SIM-Card being "fishy" as it contains no APNs on the SIM - then it DOES NOT STORE A CUSTOM APN FOR THAT PARTICULAR SIM CARD THUS ONLY BOOTING WITH AN EMPTY APN LIST.
This behaviour appears buggy to me as a Huawei E5885LS-93a does the right thing: booting up with the fishy SIM card and just showing the custom entered APNs and connects automatically.
It appears that SOME O2-Cards from Germany are affected as well as only SOME A1-Cards from Austria. (I have three SIM cards on my contract and only one of them has no APNs stored onto it.)
