Neither the Orbi LBR20 or LM1200 AT&T certified.

Having found out that after February 2022 AT&T is shutting off there 3G system I have been looking for a device that Cricket wireless (AT&T) would allow to be activated on a DATA plan. Rather annoying since my present Sierra EM7565 modem is more than capable of running LTE. However Cricket says I must update to a VoLTE or lose activation.

Searching for and finding AT&T's phones and devices acceptible after 3G shutoff on the Whitelist from AT&T there is only some old Netgear mobile hotspots plus the more recent Nighthawks and none of the Netgear cellular modem routers such as the LB, LM, or Orbi.

I had someone enter the Orbi's IMEI at Crickets IMEI check and it comes back as a 3G device! Not allowed activation. Another person checked the LM1200 and also 3G. Seriously messed up. I even had a conversation over on the AT&T wireless forum about data devices and it does not seem AT&T is budging about what devices can be activated.

Netgear you should not be selling things as AT&T certified if they will not work after February 2022 on the AT&T network.

    Hi Cricket-user

    Welcome to NETGEAR Community!

This has been brought up already to the concerned team. After further investigation, it turns out to be a misidentifying the devices case. These devices will work as long as you on the right plan.

We are aware that AT&T will be retiring the 3G network in February 2022. The devices like M1, M5, LAX20, LBR20 and others that support LTE/5G will still work, it will just not fallback to 3G anymore.

At&t has a list of acceptible devices for after Feb,22 3G shutdown. The only netgear devices are the M1 (Mr1100), M5 and the Unite mobile hotspots. There is no listing for the models (LAX20, LBR20) you are selling as AT&T certified. So until AT&T modifies their list the IMEI for those device show them as incompatible. It does not matter the plan.

Your concerned team needs to do a bit more homework.

        Hi Cricket-user

The LAX20 and LBR20 modules are certified to work with AT&T but there is no AT&T specific SKUs for these two products and they are both LTE devices not 3G.

  • I tested the IMEI for the LAX20 on Cricket's website. It was rejected. I bought mine on Amazon, and plan to return it tomorrow. This is very disappointing, because Cricket makes it very hard to buy a new data only device from them. You have to add a new device and line, then apparently call them to close the old line. I've attached a screenshot of the rejection.

Are there any devices out there that are compatible with Cricket? The service is great, but they haven't made it easy to switch to the new network.

These devices are certfied with AT&T and T-Mobile BYOD plans. If you have a cricket data SIM, it should work with LB and LM if you set the APN correctly.

None of these devices will be impacted by 3G phase-out in AT&T and T-Mo since they are LTE devices.

      Thanks

I swear some people just can not understand what a "Whitelist" means. It does not matter if the device can work. It matters if the devices is on AT&T whitelist if it will be allowed to be activated.

It is such a simple matter to test the device IMEI with Crickets IMEI checker. It is also simple to go to ATT 3G Whitelist and see which DATA devices are on it.

It can not be argued. I do not know why Netgear did not take the oportunity of the last year to get their devices (LBR20 and LM1200) on the bloody list. g.
