NETGEAR Nighthawk M6 Pro (MR6450) won't run without battery - error message

I bought a brand new NETGEAR Nighthawk M6 Pro (MR6450), and unfortunately it won't run without battery, despite me plugging it in with the power adapter that was supplied with the device. I get an error message saying: "Use the supplied power adapter when operating without battery". This is quite ridiculous for a device costing that much.

    could be a bad cable, dirty ends, or even just a bad power supply. 

    do you have a different cable/power suppy you could try?

      Thanks - I tried at a different location, but with the same cable, and it seems to work. I have no idea why it doesn't work at my house... any idea where this could be? Electricity is brand new as the house was rebuilt recently.

        thats a bit suspicious if it works elsewhere but not at your home. The power supply doesn't care a whole lot provided the power is in spec. 

        Got a multimeter you can check your power at your home with?
