  • not sure what the nighthawk 2100 is as it isn't a model number.

but any of netgears router should be able to have an extender connected to it.

You can even connect an extender to their mesh systems but it just doesn't integrate with the system.

How do you want to connect the router to the M2100?

I can think of three options:

    • router plugged into the M2100 in modem only mode
    • router in access point mode plugged into the M2100 in modem/router mode
    • wifi connection between M2100 and router

    There may be other options.

So Sorry for the late reply. Thank you for all your help. The range on the m2100 is not very good so i wanted to use m2100 as a modem and a wireless router for wifi range

That shgould be possible, as plemans suggested.

Did you investigate the three option I suggested?

        • router plugged into the M2100 in modem only mode
        • router in access point mode plugged into the M2100 in modem/router mode
        • wifi connection between M2100 and router

Also, there does not seem to be an "M2100" in Netgear's range of modes. So no one can advise you in which option your modem supports.

        Perhaps you mean MR2100.

To help you to choose between the options, start by checking the manual
