Nighthawk M1 No Wifi

My M1 is showing that the wifi is enabled but it does not broadcast to any devices.  I have factory reset it and nothing changes.  What else is there to do?

  • The M1 is designed primarily as a battery-powered mobile hotspot, although some of us are successfully using it as a static 24/7 household router. So the default factory settings aim to minimise the battery drain. For example, the WiFi will sleep after a period of time, probably requiring the Power button to be tapped once to wake it up again. Also, I think the WiFi range is set to "Short". So those are two things to check/change in the Settings > Setup > Wireless section of the browser-based interface. I'm using my M1 without a battery so I've disabled the "WiFi Standby" and have set the WiFi range to "Long". The range is still rather limited but that's to be expected in a relatively small mobile hotspot. If needs be, you can extend its range using Ethernet-connected access points.

I can't think of any other reason why your WiFi devices aren't seeing the M1. If no one else comes up with any solutions, I'd contact your supplier.

Thank you both for your help. I did have the WiFi sleep setting disabled and I remember messing with the long short setting and nothing fixed it. I ended up exchanging it for another one and have not had any issues as of yet. This post can be closed or deleted if needed.

      Thank you for your help.
